Chris Bauserman said it would be started in 2008 and if he had any management skills his staff would have completed land acquisition, etc on time , the project would have been started in 2008 and near completion today!!. Bauserman's siesta like management style has cost the taxpayers a badly needed road project. I think the Commsissioners would be justified in taking away the sales tax from his budget and placing those monies in the general fund. Commissioners cannot continue to tolerate the incompetence of Chris Bauserman.

Chris Bauserman's sales tax road fund continues to grow while productivity in promised new road construction continues to lag. Given the delicate economic situation would it not be better to transfer 2010 road sales tax revenues to the general fund on a temporary basis until such time as the economy improves??

Despite plenty of tax money construction of new roads and bridges has been quite slow and for the most part never on time.

DITHERING by Bauserman is the reason road projects are slower than molasses in Delaware county. it is not money, there is plenty of sales tax money siloed for Bausermans's use. Sawmill Parkway was supposed to have been completed by 2010 NOT and the Home Rd Bridge overpass in 2008 NOT. Now the Home /Rd project is on indefinite hold because funds which were available in 2008 are now gone and the State has to get alternative sources of funds. If Bauserman is just going to let money accumulate it go could be put to better use in the general fund for the County.

NO! Please allow me to provide some clarification.

Mr. Bauserman is by far the finest County Engineer in this state. Delaware County has some of the best managed infrastructure in Ohio.

None of the delays related to Home Rd were a result of the County Engineer's office. The incompetence occured at the state level. The County Engineer's office has done everything they possibly could to get it built. The state promised, and dedicated funding. The County did their part - even had teh project out to bid! Then ODOT decided they had "over extended" themselves and pulled the funding.

Delaware County's Road Sales Tax money is intended for use on roads (get the connection between the name and the intended use?). That is what we voted for. That is what the commissioners promised. That is what we citizens intend to see happen. This is not general fund money. The Commissioners are responsible to figure out how to manage their own budget - not pilfer from others.

On the flip side, the County Commissioners do have access to and oversight of the Regional Sewer District. Have you, by chance, looked at the finances at that department, and evaluated the management / leadership there?

Thanks for your explanation, but you neglect to address the Dithering issue which basically is a reflection on Bauserman's ability to manage and motivate public employees to perform at the highest level.

You also seem to forget that the sales tax was to have been temporary and only for maintenance, but was made permanent and for new construction by the previous commissioners. so technically Bauserman would not be getting any sales tax money if the Commissioners had not taken that action. In hard economic times a change of sales tax allocation by the new commissioners would be just as appropriate as the previous decsaion to make a temporary maintenance tax permanent.

Thanks

No - I considered both.

(1) Bauserman has not "dithered" - as noted, he has historically been the most effective CE in the state of Ohio. In fcat he has been nationally recognized for the effectiveness of his office.

(2) The permamanent vs temportary issue is not entirely without merit. However, logic would follow that the money should not be redirected, but instead collection should be eliminated. Personally, I think that the traffic and transportation issues within Delaware County bear the continuance of the Road Sales tax, particularly given the lack of support provided by ODOT, despite the fact that the district 6 office is located within the county. Should the commissioners take the foolish stance that the money is not needed for roads, then the tax should be remanded.

Whie some may claim what a great job Bauserman has done, it has come at a price. Not for the developers, but for the residents, the people who elect him. Just talk to anyone who has been impacted by one of his projects, and you will find disgruntled citizens with dozer tracks on their backs from getting run over. He has bamboozled the taxpayers and plays the dirtiest kind of politics there are. He is a world-class windbag.

Any decent engineer with a P.E. and a P.S. can make a lot more money in private practice. So, we hardly get (or got)the best and brightest. It is an ego thing, he must be trying to make up for something else. He wouldn't make a decent pimple on an honest man's behind.

If you are interested in results, and don't care about your citizens or the laws and regulations, he is without a doubt your man. Unfortunately, we are probably stuck with him, because nobody else wants the job.

Oh - I see where you are coming from now. You are really only interested in insulting Chris as you have some sort of personal grudge against the County Engineer.

Fact is that Mr. Buaserman is an excellent engineer (in addition to being a superb County Engineer). He also happens to be a fine person, and one of the most honest men in Delaware County.

But never mind. There is no reasoning with you.

Ready Fire Aim, the motto of all Del Co republicans. No plan, just tax and spend, then cut a tax and increase the spending.

Only a moron would buy the land and send the money downtown without having a commitment - the money appropriated and transferred - before buying $3 Million dollars of tiny parcels with a view of the railroad tracks. Newsflash - the democrats ain't gonna help a bunch of windbag republicans in Del Co.

Who got that cash - Yost and Bauserman contributors?

The only plan is to squeeze contributions from vendors.

BTW Randy do you just suck or swallow too when you are taking care of bowser's bizness?

See the thing is, the County DID have committments. Signed and sealed. In fact, that is the only way the County could have put the project out to bid, as was done.

As mentioned several times, the state pulled the money AFTER making a committment, and after the project was out to bid.

Regarding the rest of your comments - wow, you are really witty. Not to mention disgusting.

As to the rest of your comments -

You can't discuss anything on this topix site this is just a place for people like Homey Road and Road Kill (who are probably the same person) to mock and poke fun at good people in this town I agree Mr Bauserman is a fine man who is doing a great job at a very trying job. Imagine his postion, to have to answer to the people and build roads and bridges usually under budget and finishing before estimated completion dates. The downturn in the economy has Sawmill held up and Home road overpass had problems that certainly were not Mr. Bausermans doing. I applaud me Bauserman and the engineers at Delaware County we are fortunate to have such a devoted bunch to keep our roads maintained and safe Thank you!

The downturn is no excuse. Projects were to have been started before the economic downturn in Dec 2008. Bauserman's staff dithered around and were not aggressive. In the meantime taxpayers money is being squandered in Bauserman's silo when it could have been used for other beneficial purposes or at the very least the sales tax for roads could have been temporarly rescinded until Buaserman got his act together. When the Commissioners started to look into it, Bauserman got on his bully pulpit and cried saying he would do better. Sorry Chris you had your chance we should take your money away until you get your act together.

Since the Home Rd Project Overpass is dead for an indefinite period why doesn't Chris Bauserman lay off is staff Engineers who would have been involved with the bidding , supervision, etc and place them on indefinite furlough until the State Of Ohio finds the money?? If Bauserman really cared about his job and the taxpayer he would do it!!!

Buaserman should furlough involved workers in his office until the State of Ohio comes up with the money. Let's send a messsage to Strickland and Bauserman if you are going to delay you are costing the taxpayers money so to save money we are going to get rid of some jobs. Thanks Bauserman and Strickland for your incompetence.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Sagittarius

It's difficult to keep your mind on what you're doing today because it keeps wandering off in all directions. There won't be much you can do about this except to be aware of it, and preferably to postpone doing anything very complicated or important until you're less distracted and absent-minded. Unfortunately, you won't get very far with it at the moment.
