Channel 4 Recently ran a news story about local accents particular to Albuquerque. In order to encourage outsiders to assimilitate into the Albuquerque melange, here's a glossary of a few words and their Albuquerquean pronunciation:
Eric: Pronounced Ah-Rikh
Elementary: Pronounced Ah-leeh-men-tahr-ee
Health: Pronounced Halth
Wealth: Pronounced Walth
Sacramentos: Pronounced Sah-cah-meh-nohs
I'm going to: I-mah-gonna

Dumbest thing I ever heard, perhaps it is the illegals that cannot pronounce a word correctly so they say it as they think it sounds. Whose the dummy at KOB that came up with this stupid issue? He needs to go back to grade school or learn proper English.

chair: share cherry: sherry wtf? I just moved from El Paso, and you'd figure ABQ would be more assimilated? While on the topic...what is it with all these gangs and "war zones" and crap like that? Went to the Cottonwood Mall the other day and felt like the ghetto, and i was going to get mugged walking to my car!?

You must have gone to Hoffmantown but not Cottonwood mall, I shop there all the time, one of the best malls in the city and nice area. As for gangs, every city, large and small has them, some worst than others and I am sure wherever in Texas you came from has gangs too. As for "the war zone", gang neighborhood but they tried to rename it "the international zone" nicer sounding name for the city to hide the fact it is controlled by gangs, mostly at night but I would not venture into that area unarmed even during the day.
