Good meeting at UMHS. Probably 75-100 people showed up. Very informative and more people are aware and involved in the battle.

i read these and though I no longer live in the area for the past 8 years, i am also concerned. Whatever happened to the mom and pop business'.? My husband worked for the company for 11 years then Waste Management came in. It went down hill from there. I remember the uproar over the MRF but it still went in. Shortly after that the guys started losing little benefits here and there and we got the heck out. I read these and have found only 3 people from the area. the others are from neighboring counties. I suggest if you believe this is wrong the neighboring county people need to have the people who have a valid vote in this get involved. That's the only hope. I don't understand why the MRF ever had to be close to town, why not out of town. Afterall the old dump was?????????

The meeting was an update on what RIPP, Inc is doing to fight the MRF move to Industrial Dr. RIPP is incorporated and non-profit now. They used to be Citizens for Sensible Planning. The group is submitting documents to fight the plan and is willing to go to court. I guess their petition campaign is going really well---3,000 signatures. Garbage Girl in some of the previous postings (who I'm sure is Jack or one of his toadies) says this is a good place. Isn't it funny that 3,000 people in the area don't agree. Are you listening, Jack, or are you just going to walk over everyone and threaten everyone, like you usually do? I certainly hope RIPP wins, as Jack Sweeney and Waste Connections are a team made purely in hell. Leonard Grado came to the meeting, and tried to make himself look like the poor innocent bystander, saying he doesn't care where the MRF goes, as long as it goes. But he won't fight it either if it goes on Industrial Dr. He's the contractor who is swapping (his words) the proposed dump property (which he has an option on) for property at the current site. No matter what happens,he makes money. He's about as innocent as a rattlesnake. I was at the meeting, and I didn't believe a word he said. He just wants money. But Waste Connection is the worst. I used to live in the east, and they act like the companies that were mob run---no kidding.

To rebel---the location of the person leaving a message seems to be where your internet service is located, not where you live. I live in Diamond Springs, not Sacramento as the post says. I think most of these messages are local, if not all.

Good laugh---I know Mr Grado, and you can't belive anything he says. He's gots lots of money in this project and in the EIR. He's not about to go to any other propety so don't hold your breath---what a liar. He makes himself out to be this big religious guy, but is definitely NOT!

ATTENTION EVERYONE: It is very important!!! That all attend two real important PUBLIC meetings regarding EDC and our Solid Waste FEES and situation. Tonight Thurs. 8/14 at 7:00pm. in El Dorado Hills the CSD main Pavilion. It has been billed as a Town Hall Meeting and will concern a RATE INCREASE and FUEL SURCHARGE that you can PROTEST!!!! Waste Connections and the CSD very much WANT the public to give their feelings on the charges!! That would just add to the $100 million dollar NET profit that Waste Connections made in the last quarter.. If WE PROTEST and object to them we won't pay!?, if we are silent tonight we will..pay and pay them FOREVER!!!!

The second even MORE important meeting/workshop will be on Mon. 8/18 at 2:00 pm. in Bldg. A BOS room. This concerns the MRF and its PLACEMENT, size and design. As well as what is best for the entire counties Solid Waste fees and franchise. This is the 1st of many? Workshops regarding this issue.

This problem with the MRF possibly moving to Industrial Drive hasn't gone away, so don't stop supporting RIPP. The Sups just are having someone study this more. I'd be willing to bet they are just going to slide it by us real quietly if they can, with as little said as possible. Jack Sweeney and his appointed toady Dave Machado are definitely NOT to be trusted at any time.

I propose half of the MRF is in your very own back yard. The other half of the enterprise is on Green Eyed Lady's back yard. Between the two of you, you can set up a Cool-Aid / Hot-Dog stand and make tons of pesos catering to the workers and clientele. If business is good between the both of you, you might be able to hire two people. That, in and by itself is a great job creating enterprise.

The MRF issue has not gone away!
It is just being handled and promoted in a very different way. Meaning, behind the scenes away from the public eye. Residents Involved in Positive Planning, Inc. RIPP,Inc. is still alive, well and on the case. But we need you to stand-up and be alert to the games that are being played by El Dorado Disposal/Waste Connections.
Attend BOS meetings and write letters and tell your friends.
Also be alert of the rate increases that Waste Connections are requesting around the county.

Does Waste Connections and their CEO Ron Middlesteadt need to raise the rates on us??

I've heard him refered to by that name for years.I don't know why you don't concern yourself with his refusal to recuse himself from voting on this issue even though there is evidence of a conflict of interest in this case.It seem like he has no intention of acting in the best interest of his constituents.He obviously doesn't care about the area as evidenced by his total lack of interest in even considering other options for the new waste facility.

It's sad that people don't look at what's going on around them. They can't be bothered to find out what officials are doing, but will be the first to complain after the fact. Any elected official would be wise to find out why so many people in his or her district apparently despise and distrust him/her. It this case it's Jack Sweeney. The dislike of him is SEVERE. He doesn't want to see it, but it definitely will bite him one of these days. His history of doing favors for his friends, bullying those opposed to him, his paternalistic condescension to his constituents, and not keeping his word to them have become the issues that now will unseat him and any project he is behind. His people don't trust him, and he's too arrogant and belligerent to see it.

The next major RIPP meeting is Sat. March 14th 2:00pm. to 5:00pm. location TBD?.
It will be a community awareness/action meeting.
There is a lot happening in EDC Diamond Springs and El Dorado. You all need to stay informed and involved. Or we will lose this county.
