Someone please tell me that construction has not begun for Home Depot. I saw all the heavy equiptment and bulldozing taking place at Cambridge/Country Club today and was told that IS for the Home Depot. Someone please say it isn't true.

I have been emailing back and forth with one of the county planners about the equipment on the property. She wrote that the landowner was directed by the county to move the dirt that was improperly dumped onto the land. The dirt was moved to the back side of the property. It seems to me that this is where the dirt was destined to go in the first place. If you are concerned about development on this property, write the candidates for county board of supervisors. John Knight has gotten the endorsement and contributions from the landowner/developer Kim Beal. He is also in the same rotary club as her. Norris and Smiley have come out against the project. Nutting has not taken a position.

They haven't even started the environmental impact report on the property yet. I think there's something fishy (and possibly illegal) about drasticly changing the nature of a parcel of land just prior to the commission of an EIR. This county is either clueless or in collusion with the developers. I don't know which is worse; being a fool or a crook.

Just like gay marriage? As a life-long Republican I oppose a Home Depot or any big-box store with two fast food drive thru's and a gas station being built directly across the street from single family houses and close to schools and churches. Where do you find that? Not in Folsom. Not in Roseville. Not in Ranch Cordova. The only Home Depot that borders residential property in the entire Sacramento region is in Carmichael. There the retail center was built first and the houses surrounding it later. Anybody who bought one of those homes did so knowing it had a shopping center next to it. Land is zoned so people don't have to suffer from the negative impacts that this type of retail development brings. Ruining a neighborhood by reducing property values and increasing traffic, noise, pollution, and crime IS NOT progress. Pushing development that will hurt people, physically, mentally, and financially is not a conservative stance. Opposing it is not inherently liberal. Too many people (like yourself) fail to look deeper into an issue before shooting your mouths off and calling people names.

When you resort to name calling, please try to spell correctly so you come across a bit less foolish. It's "whether" NOT "weather."

I don't think anyone cares if a Home Depot is built in Cameron Park, it's the LOCATION as to where it is to be built that is the concern. Would you want to look out your bedroom or living room window and see that garbage across the street from you? Of course not. That parcel of land was zoned for office buildings. No one should have to have a big box store in their neighborhood. It makes no sense. Leave it to Kim Beal to push for such a thing. She always was money hungry and greedy, just like her daddy Dick Smith.

Check out libtards conservative comment. Guess it goes out to "drill baby drill" (Just not in my back yard). Gotta love it when the chickens come home to roast (pun intended)

You ain't standin' in the way of free enterprise are ya? If ya live near by and you can see home depot from yer house, that'll make you a candidate for Governor, an expurt on business, focusing in bringing big business to California and creatin' jobs for joe six-packs and midge the nail dresser. We can become self sufficient and tell the feds, thanks, but no thanks for help bringin" big box stores to El Dorado County.

When exercising "free enterprise" you do damage to innocent third parties by the nature of your business it is our representative government that is supposed to step in or have laws in place to prevent it. In this case there are zoning laws that currently prevent this developer from damaging the surrounding residents. If our county elected officials change the law to allow this development to go forward, thereby damaging the surrounding residents, then they will be complicit in bringing that damage. If the developer builds professional offices, as it is zoned for, professional Cameron Park residents will have substantial employment opportunities locally and will not have to drive down to the valley. If Home Depot and the fast food restaurants go in we will just have more retail "associate" and burger-flipper jobs. That doesn't sound very inticing to me. Bring in job opportunities that will actually pay living wages. BTW "libtard" has been out for a while now. Try updating your insults, soon!
