Home Depot Coming to Cameron Park

It's a sure thing that Home Depot is going to be built in Cameron Park. It will be built in a residiential neighborhood on the corner of Cambridge Rd and Country Club Dr. Anyone else in Cameron Park that isn't too happy about this?? As a Cameron Park resident, I think it's horrible. I'd like to hear input from others.

What is not to like? Are you afraid that your little community is growing up? Get used to it cause I will bet ya that there will be a walmart within the next 10 years. Home depot will provide jobs and community growth as well as increased property values. I remember when Cameron Park was barely more than an airport. Look what change has done to it.... now its more desireable than ever. Sacramento will continue to grow and even placerville will start getting the overflow eventually. Its inevitable.

I'm complaining that's it's being built in a residential neighborhood. Directly across the street from homes. If they want to put one here in CP, fine. But build it in an appropriate place. NOT across the street from homes. Would you like it if you lived directly across the street from a big box store? |

Ahhh, I see your point. You are correct. They should locate the store appropriately.

What have you heard that makes you think that "it is a done deal" that Home Depot is going in? Did the land get re-zoned? Did the Planning Commission vote on it? It hasn't even appeared on their agenda. Did the Board of Supervisors vote on it? Please let us know. I want retail in Cameron Park, just not right next to people's homes.

Steve, Yes, the land did get re-zoned. And yes, it did appear on the Planning Comissions agenda. I was given a number to call last week and find out details, I did. The following is the info I received: Home Depot is going to be built on the corner of Cambridge Rd & Country Club Dr. It is DIRECTLY across the street from a number of homes. The parcel is 33.7 acres. There will also be 2 fast food places and a gas station. I can only imagine how bad the traffic will be, as Cambridge and Country Club Dr are residentail streets. I would also love to see more retail here in Cameron Park, just not in a residential neighborhood.

I would like to see Wendy's come back, and maybe Izzy's, and definately the return of Burger King.
But why cut off the Placerville Home Depot to spite El Dorado County's nose? Maybe they should have put it in Cameron Park before the spent the gazillion dollars they had to pay for the re-directioning of Weber Creek, reinforcement of the Highway 50 embankement behind it, redirection of traffic on Placerville Dr.(to say nothing of all the mitigation and impact studies)(Forgot to mention the legal hurdles and hoops they had to jump through for Dr Saxton as well) All this will have been for nothing if the East end of the County deters their business and they have to close up. Especially with the "building bust" going on and eminent for the next 5-10 years... I just don't see anything positive and it's just so typical of the BOS thinking. |

I would rather see Mervyns and/or Target as was promised in the General Plan decades ago.

Um, I meant WEST end of said County.
Think about it. Hey Linda, why didn't the County have this on the agenda for public discussion???? |

Your ass is already big enough Rosie.Maybe you should quit spending your day dreaming about junk food and do something useful with your life. |
||||
|
She is a fat ass isn't she?
|
||||
|
That really is uncalled for. What are you, 12??
|

I must say that I'm really tired of these people that don't take responsibility for there actions.If rosie is going to go around crying all the time about her weight and how she can't fit in her pants etc etc etc.Then maybe she should quit worrying all the time about what fast foods she's not getting enough of in the area.Maybe she should quit gulping down Starbucks,sitting on her butt and stuffing her face.It's called personal responsibility people.Maybe she should get up off the couch once in a while too.

At least when she is out stuffing her fat face she isn't stealing news papers from the Mountain Democrat machines like she is so fond of doing.It's best to keep trash like her off the streets.

You should start a new thread if you want to change the subject.I must say that I can't wait for the new casino too.You should see how pissed off all the rednecks are about it.

Im not sure why the rednecks would be ticked off... they could go to the casino and win enough to buy that new post hole digger or riding mower at the new home depot. Everybody wins!

I agree that the placement is the problem. And yes to the person being rude about our "little community" growingup. Some of us are upset about growth since this is the reason we specifically came to this area instead of Citrus Heights. Some people do prefer more quite living. It is a free country and we all have our preferences.

You must be kidding right? Did you think a prime location conveniently located to Sacramento was going to stay small? The only person you should be upset at is yourself for not doing your homework and buying your little secluded home with the expectation that growth would not occur. If you really prefered quiet living then you must admit you could have thought it out a little better. Thats as bad as buying a house next to an airport then complaining about the airport! LOL... Sheesh.
It is because we live in a free country that growth can occur without being influenced by the minority of whiners who think their rights are being infringed upon. You may also want to consider that even more growth will continue in the near future. Home Depot will not be the last of the growth. Far from it. If you really want "quiet living" you should probably be proactive and make the appropriate changes OR come to grips with the fact that you bought in an area with inappropriate expectations. |
