I've got one! I've got one!

"Has recovery after an illness or surgery become to expensive?"

I would be willing to guess that recovery after an illness or surgery has become TOO expensive.

Thanks, Lynette. I knew we could count on you.

It was just a matter of time.

I won't mention the misspelling of "D’Aagostino" in one instance above.

I for one have gone through Cardiac rehab and it DOES help a LOT. closing this one will leave a large gap in the rehabilitation of cardiac patients. The patients pay their copay of the $800 and Insurance is suppose to pay the rest, SO who are the ones closing the center? Strong or the insurance company's....

Many health insurance policies contribute towards health memberships.....sounds like maybe some tweaking would offer similiar benefit. Let the docs prescribe an exercise regime, swim program etc...and then patients can go to the gym and work on their program....same idea....not sure everyone needs the close monitoring anyway.....there are many people who don't participate in cardiac rehab after surgery and are just fine. We have to get real folks.....cuts need to happen and this could be a manageable one....maybe not the most popular but that's life.

This is an example of why many employers are moving out if "community based insurance plans".
When lifesyle leads to poor health, why should those that have taken preventative steps, healthy lifestyles, pay for those that consume the most in the health care system. We should have a choice to buy into a plan that is based on our "groups health".
How much of the heart disease today is from poor nutrition lack of excersize and smoking?

I couldn't afford either health club or the bloody hospital program if, God forbid, I had heart surgery. Both are too expensive and my insurance wouldn't cover. How about walking a mile or two, using your town's parks and rec center if there is one, and maybe change your diets too? I know, I am not a dr. But I am tired of paying out my hard earned $$$$ so that a surgery patient can go to a 'health club' inside a hospital or gym because someone else is paying for it. Sorry, maybe not a popular thought, but there ARE ways of getting the same exercise w/o my payig for it thru higher costs to my health plan that wouldn't even cover this program. Buy 2 cans of veggies, 1 in each hand and use as weights. Walk 1-2 miles (that would take care of the 'track'). Then go to parks and rec center (most towns now have them) use their pool and swim the numbered of prescribed laps. Less cost to everyone, you get to know your neighbors and you are getting the same exercise you are in the hospital program and guess what, LESS COST TO EVERYONE.

The Phase III program is only supported by those who are in the program. There is no insurance co-pay. The members who participate, in most cases drive past other health clubs to go to this program, which does cost them more than a health club would. This is not a case where there is "competition".
The Phase III participants are there because they have heart issues - that's what the program was for - was because it is being closed down on January 1.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
