Full story: Berkshire Eagle

In the lead story on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Dan Bianchi stated that such a narrow margin of victory for Mayor Ruberto indicated that there is a distinct population in this city who wants to be heard.

Agreed, people generally only care about national elections because they feel better about themselves when in fact local politics effects them more on a daily basis.

Maybe if there was a "consequence" factor...like your tax return check will be delayed if you don't vote....or give away something to those who vote--heck, some people would trample through a crowd just to get a free t-shirt. I know it shouldn't be necessary....but this is America. Apathy rules.

Voter apathy is GOOD!

It means the majority of citizens are content with their situation.

If we ever get 90%(or more) of voters to the booths it would mean some VERY negative *&^% is effecting their lives.

There IS a "consequence factor".

If Joe Sixpak AND Quentin Quiche can't be bothered to become informed and vote accordingly, the they deserve the consequences.

And while the nation is bled dry by the banksters and we all become their slaves, the topix forums will ocntinue to be where petty jealousies and grievances are aired at the expense of real information.

do you really think that most of Rubertos votes came from people who were aware of his contribution or lack there off to the city of Pittsfield?

they were there because they were told to be there...voting lists can be checked to see who voted and who did not

So what more can you expect? Voter apathy? Did you ever take a good look at the average shmoe walking down the street? Most of these slack jawed bums look like they are more worried about their next tattoo or maybe scoreing some dope. The only time they vote is in national elections and look what you now have as the president thanks to millions of morons who vote because of a claimed race which is only half true.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
