Only five more days til the start of the latest WAMC Northeast Public Radio, Inc., Prima Donna beg-a-thon. Don't let station CEO Alan Chartock and WAMC's other six-figure salaried top execs starve this Winter. I'm gonna donate all I can, and I know you will too!

Four days until the fun begins. WAMC Northeast Public Radio, Inc. listeners should pledge all they can to WAMC so that station executives, who annually are paid more than three times what the average listener gets paid, won't starve this Winter.

Three days left and then at 6AM Monday morning, the fun begins. I predict that WAMC's $1,000,000 Winter fund drive will be over in a record five days! Let's make it happen, folks!

Let's make it happen, folks! Heller, you once claimed that WAMC's listeners were affluent (see your post, pasted below), now you're saying they can't afford to donate to WAMC. Which is it? WAMC has 6,900 devoted listeners -- the bulk of which are in the affluent 55-75 year-old age group, the consumer bracket advertisers can only dream of reaching -- and one just doesn't argue with numbers like that. Rush Limbaugh's millions of destitute, morally bankrupt listeners can't compare in devotion to that 6,900 handful of rapt Alan Chartock cultists.

Democrat operative Solons, of course WAMC's 6,900 rapt listeners can afford to donate to their favorite radio station, WAMC Northeast Public Radio, Inc.; they do, don't they? BUT, asking whether the WAMC audience can afford to donate is not the same as asking WHY they should donate, especially when that average WAMC listener makes one-third or less annually than that which WAMC pays its CEO. So why should people give to a charity where the CEO makes more than the person making the donation? WAMC is supposed to be a 'not-for-profit' charity, but the CEO is clearly making big bucks -- or do you not consider a near $180K annual compensation into the CEO's pocket a healthy 'profit' for the CEO?

Yes,$180k is a great salary. But, so what? Who is anyone to tell someone who makes $60k how they should spend their money? All WAMC does is ask people to donate. No one makes them do it. If those listeners were really that offended by Chartock's salary, then they'd make their voices heard. That they haven't says a lot.

Are you saying that the bulk of listeners who donate money to WAMC Northeast Public Radio, Inc. know how much CEO Chartock is pulling out of the operation and know of the cushy perks and fringe benefits the CEO gets -- all paid for out of listener donations? You really think WAMC listeners know about the cushy all-expenses-paid furnished multi-bedroom apartment that WAMC maintains for Chartock's personal use just down the street from WAMC's Albany studio -- also all paid for out of listener donations?
