Highlighting the bad parts, just tell us truthfully what your childhood was like. I'm willing to look at my history to find out why loud pipes bother me as much has they do. Why don't you tell us your history so we can see why it is so important for you, as an expression of your freedom, to unlawfully blare down Mainstreet St, waking up nurses who worked third shift and scaring strangers on the street..

What you do not realize is that loud pipes bother "YOU"! It does not bother "everyone". This is your problem and you should spend some time looking into overcoming it.

My problem? Why are ordinances and methods of enforcement on the table year after year, if it is just "my problem?" I realize that you are trying to make this about me. But it's not about me. I am here writing about it because it is one of my interests and pet peeves, it is also an issue of many other people, that is why ordinances and methods of enforcement are on the table.. Currently there are posters out promoting something called Revival Ride, sponsored by some church. "All custom bikes and rods welcome" the posters say.. Does this mean a church is condoning crime ie; illegal modified pipes?

Does this mean a church is condoning crime ie; illegal modified pipes? Oh dear Katherine. Of coures we are right, this noise is simply not necessary and incredibly harmful to our peace and is illegal. Curly just wants to poke you, anyone with 1/10th a brain who is willing to think would come to the same conclusion: there is no need for these idiots to break the law. But your last comment got me laughing. "does this mean a church is condoning crime?" Of course it is! All churches do. How else have they gotten away with mass murder (over 10million in the 16th century alone), child molestation, lying about the origins of life and our universe, coercing weak minds into paying for their hate wars? Churches are above the law. No other corporation could use such false advertising to drive its customers to attack anyone who is not a customer. Its organized crime plain and simple. No surprise they are now courting the bikers, who seem so easily pushed in this direction. Humans are way to manipulatable, if that is a word.

If there are other people bothered by the noise, then I suggest you collect signatures and bring to the mayor.

Great reply..I knew it was a stupid question , but I had to write it out, in black and white, on THIS thread.. You've offered support for what I've been writing about, top-free equal rights, I like using these two issues to compare levels of equality, harm and enforcement..

What do you think about my first post on page 1 of this thread. Suzanne Pierce writes: "The Ding Dong ice cream truck is much more intrusive." I agree , the ice cream truck is much more intrusive, but on this one I seem to truly be the only one complaining: The presence of ice cream trucks in communities each Summer, contradicts the warnings from Law Enforcement to keep children away from strangers in vehicles.. Last night I was at Springside Park, I heard the truck coming from the East, it pulled up next to the parking lot doing business right on the breakdown lane of Springside Ave. Doing business on the side of the road sets young people up to believe that it is safe to walk up to strangers in vehicles parked on the side of the road, when it is not.. I saw two little girls running up to it.. When I see little girls (or boys) running up to ice cream trucks, I can see into the future. I can see them as 16-18 year old girls (and boys) running up to strange men(or women) in cars offering beer and cigarrettes and a good time.. You may say "whats wrong with that", "parents will tell them when they get older to stay away from stranger in vehicles", but when carefree, they have spent Summer after Summer running to a truck manned by "nice people", offering them special treats, with exciting music playing loud in the background, running to strangers in vehicles will be second nature, memories of wonderful times will drive them. Their parents advice will be, to them, just another mistake, something to ignore.. In my opinion, the presence of ice cream trucks in communities is one of the leading causes of missing persons. I encourage City Council to ban moving food venders, only venders operating out of fixed locations should be permitted. Sorry this hinders some peoples idea of economic freedom and opportunity, but there is plenty of work to be done which does not involve luring children to strangers in vehicles..

I see our point about ice cream trucks. Although the noise rarely scares children, it does lure them to a vehicle. We tell our children, "don't talk to strangers", but here comes one driving around town with children lined up. Seems like an ideal job for a person wishing to harm children.

Unless all caregivers of small children are convinced to stop patronizing the Ice Cream Truck, from now until the end of time, the presence of the Ice Cream Truck in town will continue to condition young people into believing that it is safe to approach strangers in vehicles. That is why, I believe, roving food venders, especially those whose products are specifically marketed towards children, must be banned by City Council..

Is what you wrote above how you communicate at work when someone says something you don't like or can't understand?

Ice cream trucks are the worse form of failed government. How do they get a license to sell in my tree-lawn? I'm sure my front yard is not zoned for this. It is a sham. Yes, it makes good parenting more difficult but you all miss the important point: They are annoying! They are really loud and play that horrible tinny music over and over and over and over and over again. The city is not living up to its responsibilities. These are rogue vendors. I did not move into a good neighborhood to have roving vendors on my street. We have just two houses with kids yet they ruin my cocktail hour every evening. Arrest them for vending without a license..ticket them at each and every stop. The city witnessed a big (stupid) fight between the hot dog vendor and a burrito shop (that smells so bad I won't ever return). The city was involved telling the hot dog vendor exactly where to set up, but it doesn't try to regulate where the ice cream truck stops???? Law enforcement here is a joke...just look at the cops driving around in shades with their shirts unbottened, running red lights.

I see that, even you keep coming around to read my words of wisdom, I use Topix to talk about issues I am concerned about, you use the service to satisfy your urge to be nasty to people. It's strange how ice cream salespeople using trucks as sale stands get away with it, get away with convincing parents to ignore a dire warning from Law Enforcmnet to keep children away from strangers in vehicles.. I guess Americans are just so hellbent on Economy and Job Creation that they just don't care if the safety of young people is at risk..

So kathrine, you never ate ice cream off an ice cream going up? let me guess, it was the great depression! you ate soup made from boiled boots and walked to school in those boots, up hill both ways before they dried!! either you were locked in the basement all your life and dont know how to handle everyday life or you really do need to be medicated!! My kids get ice cream off the truck regularly. I am there watching them each and every time!! we dont need the government to police our children and our lives, we need to do it ourselves!! if you dont know how to think, act or survive without somebody in authority telling you what to do all the time then go live in a nursing home!! somebody will instruct you and do everything for you all day long!! The rest of us a perfectly happy being able to decide whether or not our kids can go to the ice cream truck and watching over them as they do it! we dont need or want the government dictaing everty aspect of our lives and banning everything that can be thought of!! These old coots in senate and congress grew up, and if you ask them, just fine, with the right and ability to see, do, and try everything they want to legislate, ban, and control as evil today!! Thios is America!! our soldiers die so that my kids are free to eat ice cream off a truck!! if you cant handle that, put on a burrca and move to iraq!!
