Were any of you 14 years old? Don't you remember doing what you wanted when you wanted? This young lady is struggling with so much emotion and she vented and you want to blast her for that? She is supporting her father because she loves him and you want to shame her? WTF??? Are you kidding me? We all have made comments and done things we would take back, so PLEASE leave this young lady alone, let her morn, grieve, and eventually heal. Let her mother and her family support her and leave her alone. Berkshire Eagle, you really should be ashamed of yourself for putting this front page. I know there are more newsworthy issues you could be publishing than the turmoil of this young lady's life. Let her heal! Those of you who are so focused on her, take a GOOD, LONG look in the mirror before you judge.
To the young lady...you are loved by your family and friends. Do not even think twice about these others and their opinions...they don't matter. Keep your head up and stay strong.

Okay I have a question for this ignorant reporter. The article says all of this was left as a message so what I would like to know is did anyone even try to verify the fact that it was this young lady who left the message? For all the Eagle knows it could have been someone who doesn't like the girl and decided to be an a**h*** and say it was her. Every reporter should verify every fact before printing any article especially one this sensitive. I guess what I'm saying is that if a teen must be accompanied by a parent when talking to the cops then the reporter should have contacted the mother to see if the message was really left by her daughter. This article is tabloid journalism at it's worst. If this reporter and the editor of this rag had any sense they should have said "the message was allegedly left by Vincent's daughter". Even by wording it that way though would be BS and it never should have been printed.

Media can ruin anything good or bad why is she so subject Sounds like you have no idea what your talking about, well from what I got out of it because it really didn't make sense . You don't know that she's not in therapy, and it's really none of anyone's business. I can't believe some of the stuff you people are saying about this girl, nor do I understand why the eagle would exploit a child like this.

Sox Fan- It sure must be nice to be a perfect parent. Children have access to phones and computers away from the home when you are not with them.(schools, libraries, etc.) I don't think I have ever met a teenager who doesn't break the rules on occasion. I would love to meet your children who will never try a cigarette, or sneak a beer, or stay out past curfew..... In no way is the mother in this case failing her daughter as a parent and it is ridiculous for you to accuse her of that.

To be honest...I am not a perfect parent, no one is.If you read and UNDERSTOOD my post, you would have known I was saying that our kids will challenge us. Yet, as parents we should be in control, and our kids should know the limits. They will, as we all did, do the things you mentioned. But........ the key is... when you have knowledge, address it, and not permit it. Kids thrive on structure and we need to give it to them. So, yes... I did the things you say, but my mother called me on them, and to this day I respect the rules. I don't allow underage drinking or let slide the others.

The Eagle did nothing wrong- "Vincent's 15 year old daughter,.. whose name is not being published because she is a minor child,.. in remarks made separately to The Eagle and to law enforcement officials, said..."
The media is not restricted from reporting the words of minor children.. I am grateful that the child spoke out. She told truth, as she witnessed it.
Criminals and other partners in crime can make children 'silent partners' by forbidding them to speak the truth..
In America, children also have the right to speak...

For what ever reason, this girl wants publicity. She posted on topix, not once, but over and over, and calls the Eagle. She gave her name on all the postings. So I am glad the Eagle did not accommodate her by printing her name. I really do not know what her actual intentions were, but she does need help.

This is revolting. Are you saying it is IS ok for Food, Beverage and Toy Sellers to exploit and use children for the purpose of marketing and pushing garbage on the American people.. but it is NOT ok for Journalists to report the eye witness accounts of children for the purpose of helping the public gain insight into Domestic Violence?

When someone is hurt by another individual it is a crime. When someone is killed by another person it is murder. It is hard for a youngster to believe her father is a murderer, because he is her father. Murder deserves a whole lot of jail time and maybe he will develop a relationship with a much larger cell mate and be terrorized in turn.

I don't think that is her goal otherwise she would lay low, not draw attention to herself and her father. But she is seeking attention, the Eagle didn't call her, she called them and gave her name. They discreetly decided not to print it.

You're an idiot. Crawl back under your rock. Thanks to this progressive American Government children do not need a parents permission to talk.. Whether or not sellers of commodities have the parents permission to use children for the purpose of marketing products, in my opinion, it is wrong.. Having the parents permission to use a child for the purpose of marketing products does not make it right. Many times the parent of the child commercial star does not have the best interests of the child in mind when she signs the contract, she has extravagance in mind. Most often the child knows nothing about the product, whether the environment, human or animal life was harmed in the production or manufucture of the product or will be harmed in the consumption of the product... I do not believe The Eagle used the childs eye witness account for the purpose of selling papers, I believe they reported her eye witness account for the purpose of helping the public gain insight into Domestic Violence and to give the child the right to speak.. Mink Frog wrote: <quoted text> I am so disappointed that the Eagle would publish this article. Another child with fifteen minutes of infamy is not what our community needs. The child was not looking for 15 minutes of fame, or infamy, she was looking to speak out for victims of Domestic Violence, to scream "this is what happened!!! PLEASE don't let this happen to anyone else!!!" I am so PROUD of her for having the courage to speak out, to go to the Media, to tell them what she saw, so that The Eagle could report all of the details she witnessed and warning signs of Domestic Violence to the public.. I am grateful to this progressive American Government that she did not need a parent or guardians permission to speak.. Often times parents will forbid the child from speaking, to spare THEMSELVES the embarrassment.. meanwhile the child dies inside, and learns that it is not ok to speak, it is not ok tell the truth, and that the world is unsafe and uninterested in her well-being... Because she spoke, she has helped many people...

The paper shouldn't be repoting something a minor says anyway ,especilly a sensative issue such as this. Obviously, she doesn't want to admit her father that she loves did this. Perhaps my post wasn't quite accurate. What editor allowed her to be quoted without asking her mother first? There should be a law that protects minors in this case.

There isn't a single person commenting on this thread who can actually say it was this girl who left the message. I still want to know how this rag printed the article without checking with her mother to find out if the girl was actually the one on the answering machine? You don't print something like this without verifying it in some way. As for Ms Pittsfield they do need the parent's permission to speak with the girl. The only way they are getting around that is by saying a message was left on this reporter's machine.

well if the girl decides to do something drastic to relieve her pain the Eagle will have a story they can tell over and over each time adding a tidbit. I hope there is not someone hiding in that eagle attic wishing for more bad things to happen with this case but I kinda got a feeling there is
