1 It's not bigoted to state fact. American Evangelicals have indeed went to Africa to spread "The Word" with abominable results. Traditionally, at least according to missionaries, Christian mission work has been about bringing Africans together. Some (we always remember the sensational outliers don't we) of the more recent Evangelical missionaries have instead fueled their tribalism. They found new enemies for them to hate: Muslims, Gays, Atheists, pagans... Actually, IV drug users are the group that is most likely to get HIV AIDS, not gay people. And that group includes whites, blacks and latinos, both straight and gay. If broken down by sub-groups, the smallest number of people there would be gay. The rest of your post is just rabid racism showing. But you keep saying that gay people are the bigots... very interesting. |

1 Facts 1: Wrong, you are confusing correlation with causation. There IS an inverse correlation between percentage of blacks in a neighborhood and property value. The question is why and the answer is complex. I will address one: Systemic issues caused by generations of racism. The best predictor of a child's future education level AND earning potential is "How much does your parents make?" Combine this with the US having the lowest social mobility of all developed countries and you get results like you stated. Fact 2: This is just incorrect. While gay males are more likely to contract STDs, this is counter balanced by lesbian females almost never contracting STDs. This is all related to the vectors used for transmission of STDs. This can be negated by practicing safe(er) sex. Fact 3: The most recent and most comprehensive studies I have seen in this area were from "The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life".* Chapter 13 is a good read on this topic. The difference is more around 10 points and Asians score over 5 points higher than Whites. All of them are withing one standard deviation. This means the difference between individuals is greater than the difference between races, which in turns mean you cannot judge a person's IQ by their race. Add to this that almost all studies show that level of stimulation during the first five years, nutrition during the first five years, and other environmental conditions then and during the whole stage of brain development play a much greater role than genes, and you can conclude that racial differences in genome play a minor role in intelligence. Again, systemic issues of past racial inequality raises its head. So while the "facts" alone are not racist... your warrants are and so are your conclusions.** Just a little education can be a dangerous thing. 1 I didn't draw any conclusions. I posted facts. Your opinion on these facts is irrelevant. Speaking of education, perhaps you should begin by understanding the difference between fact and opinion. I do believe with a little bit of intelligent thinking, you can grasp such complex differences of fact vs. opinion. I get that you think gay women are immune to STDs and black people in and of themselves don't bring down property values, but that is for a different discussion. The facts themselves are not bigoted. See how that works? Do you understand or is it still too difficult? ;) |

Not one of those things you posted was a fact. They were all opinions. The warrants, facts and conclusions were all wrapped up in one tiddy little thing you called a "fact". For example the fact is there is a correlation between % of black people in an area and lower property values. You can find studies that show this. This is not what you said though. You altered the fact to a factiod that has the evidence, warrant and conclusion heavily implied and stated as a fact. This is a petty rhetorical technique that is as old as rhetoric.
The last "fact" you stated would have been a real fact... had it been accurate. Here is a fact for ya. Men are 5 times more likely to be a genius... but they are also 5 times more likely to be retarded. |

Historically, the only people who call me an idiot are... idiots. Thank you for making my day. My point is quit simple. It has nothing to do with sample rates. It has to do with the subtle shift people make when siting studies. The study says one thing, and they restate something slightly different as fact. A study that shows black people bring down property rates would track a sampling of neighborhood's property values before and after black people move in them. I am not aware of any such study. If you know of one please cite it. All the studies I am aware of just shows that the average white person has a higher property value than the average black person. See how they are two different but related things? See how the study says X but you say Y? Again this is a rhetorical trick used in propaganda for ages. |
