I believe that we need an english lesson. Let me try to adapt this lesson to the situation:

Slander: spoken "shit talking"
Libel: written or typed "shit talking"

You need a law lesson because you sure as hell don't have a clue what slander is.

I concur. To be legally considered either slander or libel, the "shit talking" has to be demonstrably untrue. Otherwise, its just gossip. That is why celebrities can only sue somone if they can prove what they said is untrue. Example= Kate Winslet's court case against a newspaper that said she couldn't fit an oscar dress without constant exercize was slanderous, because she was able to prove in a court of law that it was untrue. Example #2= Charlie Sheen can't do anything about anyone who wants to print that he likes cocaine and hookers, because he cannot prove different in a court of law-this is just considered gossip.
