I agree. I think the Chamber of Commerce is getting involved into things that should be handled by the County & City goverments and not wasting money on studies like this.

I wish I could agree with you on this one; however, I suggest that local and county governance needs close scrutiny and I encourage the Chamber to scrutinize everything our governing officials do on OUR behalf. That is what a democracy is all about, in my opinion.

They are not paying close scrutiny to the Governments. They are working on their own agenda.

Everyone works from the perspective of their own viewpoint or agenda. Folks without a dog in the fight have a different perspective, good or bad, than someone involved in the organization.

Valdosta leaders have made good and bad decisions that we will all live with for a long time.
Thanks

It seems that some folks are spending a lot of time judging comments. It wastes your time and makes some of us laugh out loud. How you judge a comment reflects more on your bias and perception of yourself than anything else. Get a life! LOL

...R U saying it's ok when you vote numerous times for your own posts but when others disagree with you then it becomes 'bias'?

Please, don't be so hypocritical!

...Don't go from being a hypocrite to liar!

Besides, if this didn't apply to you , why did you feel compelled to answer?

Looking at the budget and population figures posted by our fine fish wrapper, the County system is doing about 35% more educating with 5% less finances. Isn't a bigger question why the City spends more money on fewer students and still has lower scores? I used to support consolidation but now I'm not so sure.

This decision is entirely up to the City of Valdosta.
If they choose to dissolve their school system them all the funding and all the students automatically go to Lowndes CO BOE as a matter of law.
In the long run this will save tax payers money, you will cut a lot of fat from the old Valdosta system.
Initially it will cost a lot to close certain school, bus students around, etc.
Lowndes County will have the pleasure of dealing with all the hood rats and the lazy teachers from Valdosta.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Pisces

Someone is extremely headstrong and defiant today, and there's every chance that you're the one fitting this description. The more others are trying to make you behave yourself or do what they want, the more determined you'll be to do the exact opposite. Well, it is a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse in emotional Cancer, so you're excused! Show them that you're an individual in your own right without going completely overboard about it, because that will cause trouble. Then once you've got all that off your chest you can relax and look forward to a really Happy New Year!
