Why all the gang Violence in Northern Pico?

Lately there have been a lot ofgang shootings in the Northern part of Pico. Are the cops doing anything about this? Any info on what the reasons for all these shootings?

It has been 2 days since Joey's post and there has been 3 more fatal shootings in N.Pico and western part of whittier.
Have noticed the same thing. What is this?

Jose Francisco Enciso was murdered 2 nights ago in whittier, in the doorway of his mother's home. Our hearts are aching over this brutal, cowardly assasination.

the violence in pico rivera has always been there, just go back only 5 years. remember the pico rivera/ downey youth football game about 3 years ago when the parents got into it, it made national headlines. like any other city, there are alot of good people who live in pico, but its the bad ones who make the news.

its funny that you guys talk about north pico like that. i thought i was the only one. im from southern pico and its pretty mellow. very quiet, rarely anything violent. its our little safe haven in the south-eastern tip (telegraph and the san gabriel valley river bed). anyway, ive always said that northern pico feels different, but could never put my finger on it. i dont understand how the same city could be that different.

Why? Does somebody need to file a lawsuit for supposedly violating a gang member's right to kill another person? Or, maybe they need to file a lawsuit on the way the police saved a victim from being killed.

You know why there's the difference. It's as plain as day...the Downey P.D. is doing it's job, unlike most other agencies.

With all it's criticism for being hard nosed, this is the benefit of their strictness...a safer city and safer anything within their jurisdiction.

its not the city, its the people who live in it

here in downey, i see more and more homies moving into the area. the police are really cracking down on people "hanging around". in due time , they will figure out that if they want to live here in downey, they cant be doinig thier crap. the cops dont mess around here in downey, keep up the good work.

Man I wished the sheriffs here in pico, didn't mess around. Lots of a voilence going down. Yeah, I agree with how South Pico is, its pretty mellow. I live in North Pico, and hardly ever see any cops around, unless something just went down.

That is because traditionally the City Council has come from the southside and has neglected the Northside. Since the northside lacks relevent representation, it is the area with the most problems, like North Park's failing status. Hopefully that will change soon.

I totally agree with this comment, I'm 30 and I lived in Pico all my life and as I was growing up we did have gangs, but I think back then they where a little more discrite, know the kids that are in gangs dont even care about anything or whom they live around they sell and do drugs even if children from the neighborhood are watching... its seem like they get a kick out of it....the cops do need to be a bit more alert.

Gang retaliation. Tit for tat. Stay away from them. Don't let your kids hang around with those homies. They will enventually drag them into that mess.

I was wondering if there are any links to newscasts and such of the past few events that occured in the surrounding areas of pico and whitter. It would be a great help, trying to look into this gang violence and the past killings.

There was a shooting last night in Pico right in front of the Tommy's on Whittier blvd. A couple was gunned down, the boyfriend died. Apparently it was gang related although the guy that was killed was not a gang member. I swear those cowards should be sent to the war, see how brave they are.

You're an idiot. Just cause there's more violence in L.A., it doesn't make it ok to have some violence in Pico.
From what I here, it will be coming to end soon. You heard here first. Sure, it won't seem right or even legal at first, but it will get the job done. The public officials will fine a loophole in the law that will make it ok.
