We are considering moving from the Midwest to Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch. The active adult community looks great but was wondering what others thought about Anthem and the area in general.

Thanks,

We have been doing a lot of research in that whole area and seems very impressive. The incentives are also generous. The facilities are way better than anywhere else..We are going in person next week to look and wil probably buy as better prices there by far as compared to CANADA....I am anxious

hi there......people who do not know the area call it a bunch of different names...the true name is "Anthem at Merrill Ranch"....we just purchased a home there this past week, and taking possession on the 27th...it is the most wonderful community we have ever seen....part of the community is 55 plus the other all ages...each have their own community centres...our all ages has a 43000 sq ft centre with outdoor pool, all sorts of exercise room stuff and and the golf course is FIRST CLASS and very very reasonable.....all the people we have met are wonderful...a brand new SAFEWAY store...no traffic is the best

Thank you for responding to my earlier inquiry on Sun City Anthem. We did in fact purchase a home in Sun City Anthem as well. We are so excited. The quality of the homes, the price, friendliness, amenities, golf, Union Center, etc. etc. were the best value of all the communities we looked at. I also like the attitude that it is "all about you" when dealing with the staff. They know how to do it right. Maybe that is Del Web experience and from what they learned at their other Sun Cities. It was not at all that way at the highly advertised active adult community in Maricopa.

My wife and I concur on the quality after spending a couple of hectic weeks looking at real estate in the area. We bought on Super Bowl sunday and the house will be completed in six weeks.
Can anyone recommend a good landscaper? We are in Canada and won't be on hand to oversee the project. Has anyone else gone through the closing inspection etc without being present?
Regards
EJ

Mary, As noted earlier, after looking at a number of Active Adult Communities in the area, we did buy in Sun City Anthem and really love it. It has exceeded our expectations.

In Arizona Ranking, Sun City Anthem was recently voted the best Active Adult Community in AZ for 2008.

Hi There folks! I am a former Pulte Homes Sales Manager at Anthem at Merrill Ranch. I am now in general real estate. My husband and I are a team and we represent buyers and sellers throughout the metro Phoenix area. I can tell you that I have yet to find another community that can compare, especially to the Sun City portion. Where else can you buy a single level home, over 2000 sf, with a CASITA that backs onto one of the most beautiful golf courses in AZ for under $300k?? By the way, I have yet to find another community that uses lava rock between the homes and the course instead of DIRT like other courses.
If you would like representation or assistance with your new home search, I specialize in this neighborhood as I know all of the builder's dirty secrets :-) I would love to show you around the area, and can even arrange for a free round of golf when you visit! By the way...the builder pays me, so my services would be free to you. I can be reached at jessica dot sulliman at ashbyrealty dot com OR my husband at www dot buyanewhomeinaz dot com

Curious, recommendation for a landscaper? Our house will close next month.

Thanks, but we just recently went ahead with a contract to build, we are very pleased. The prices here are really super. We were thinking of building in Las Vegas, but prices were 100K more for tiny lots. We hope to be in our new place by Jan. 2009. If anyone has a question, drop me a line!

Hey we were down to see Anthem this month - how did your house building go and did you find a landscaper?

We purchased a house at SunCity Anthem as well, also did a lot of looking around Arizona but never saw anything that compared for price or amenities. We will be moving in late Dec. Can hardly wait. Won't miss the cold frozen Saskatchewan winters.

We too are from Saskatchewan and are looking to buy at Sun City Anthem Merrill Ranch. Any Canadians willing to correspond about their experiences at this community?

Pat,
Del Webb builds all the Sun City active adult communities and there are many throughout the U.S. They are also located in the northwest Phx. area. As to Anthem, there is a planned community called Anthem north of Phoenix. But..... there is only one "Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch" which is located in the Southeast Valley.
We have owned for over a year and it is an absolutly fabulous place.

We're thinking seriously of moving to Sun City Anthem Merrill Ranch in the next year. Can anyone tell us whether the new hospital is under construction yet?

Also, we heard that big power lines are going in by the community. Are they in yet or just planned? Will they be along Felix Road or ?

So happy to see Jerry's response that after a year there, he and Janet feel it's fabulous!

Kathy,
We left the 1st of May for the summer. We read that the permits are in place and the hosptial will begin construction early summer. I have heard nothing about power lines.

As to Fernand's comments about buying in Anthem for less money than Sun City Anthem, that is an easy one for me to respond to. Sun City Anthem is an Active Adult community. Anthem is a very nice all age community. In Sun City you not only are buying the home but an active and fun adult life style with neighbors that are close to our age that are looking for the same life style. We love it and it is worth every penny. It is a package deal. Home, great neigbors and active lifestyle.:)

I don't know what else I could ask for!!!

Do you mean we are not "active" cause we live on the all ages side?? we are pretty active, walk 18 holes of golf everyday, then we walk to the Rec centre & pool as my wife does 2 hrs in the gym while I swim and then read and have a little sleep, then we walk home again......I would like those "Active Adults" try to follow us around some time....anyway you look at it we could not justify paying $80,000 more for the Raven than we did in Parkside.....makes no sense at all but each to their own..........we like it where we are.......

Fernand,
Please accept my appology. I did not mean anything derogatory. In fact, I doubt I could keep up with you!! Anthem at Merrill Ranch is a wonderful community .... whether you live in the Active Adult side or the "Active All Age side".

Welcome!!

Best regards,
Jerry

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
