It IS really fun. I did it when I was young(er). Have some great memories hanging with friends and even a story of a near accident that we all, fortunately, can laugh about now.
No matter what you build for kids to keep them safe, they will seek thrills just like every generation before them sought. Most make it through unscathed.
Yeah but it's not many who have old pastime stories of jumping off railroad trestles or into slate quarries. That's just odd & nuts, not to mention dangerously dumb.

Don't you love the term "rite of passage", as if EVERYONE has to do something absolutely stupid in order to attain adulthood?

Most of us manage to acheive doing something really stupid without risking our lives.

How about taxing all the high-school proms in the region to cover the costs of rescue and body-recovery?

Most people I know have stories of jumping off of trestles and surviving. I did, my mother did, my husband did, and all of us are fine and healthy people. Tragedies happen. It sucks, but that's the way life is. It's not fair, but such is life. Kids will always seek a thrill and push the envelope.

A kid is MISSING,or possibly DEAD! How can people pass judgment on this kid. After reading some of your responses some of you need to remember anything can happen to you at any giving moment. I pray for the young boy and his family....

Would someone please build something for these kids so they have something to do around here? Jumping off railroad bridges, swimming in quarries, yeah that's REAL fun.
What more do you want? They already built bridges and quarries to keep them occupied.

yea thats why they built quarries and bridges so some jack ass who thinks he can fly can jump off of it. these places where built for industial porpusses when they become abbandoned the state should close them down so people dont get hurt instead they are too worried about stuffing there fat pockets

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Sagittarius

If you have any worries or problems today, a close colleague could have the answers you seek. Work will be satisfying, and anything to do with children should be very rewarding today. There could be friction with a relative, but it's nothing serious and things will sort themselves out in due course. Again, you must pay attention to your health, Saggitarius: skin infections are a strong possibility at the moment.
