They're a catholic hospital..they don't believe in birth control. They make that very clear,if youu need birth control...several doctors will prescribe it.

Of course a doctor will prescribe it for you but at full cost to you. If a woman is paying for insurance it should be provided. Birth control is not only used for preventing pregnancy. 58% of woman use it for other reasons like controlling severe periods and preventing cervical cancer. Catholic hospitals are just that hospitals they should follow the same rules and laws as all other hospitals. If we let them follow the Bible instead of the law is it ok for them to turn away care to unwed mothers, gay people, or people not of their religion? What about Jewish or Muslim hospitals are they allowed to discriminate against women? Are they allowed to not hire women or segregate them from men? What if you mother wife or sister gets raped and goes to the only hospital in this town? Should she not be aloud top decide to not be pregnant by her rapist? What if your wide is pregnant and has complications and will lose her life if the baby us not aborted? Should her life be risked so they can load her up and drive her 45 minutes to the next qualified hospital? Where is the line between civil liberties and equal rights and religious beliefs?

The free birth control from the health department is fee because it is the cheapest kind out there. It is not the same add other kinds that ate used for severe mental control or for cancer prevention. We need to stop living in the dark ages women deserve equal health care and prevention. If the church does not enforce all their rules how can they enforce only selected ones.

It doesn't prevent cervical cancer. I meant who is the insurance carrier. Blue cross blue shield. That's who "covers" services. Not the hospital. If a doc write you a script and it's not covered that's not a decision that your employer made its the insurance policy. Most cover contraception.

St. Josephs insurance is through them st Josephs not any outside carrier. Same for most hospitals so the employer is the insurance and they don't allow it. Yes done birth control does prevent cervical cancer by hormone control you might want to do some research. Not all birth control is the same especially the cheap stuff the give away at the health department.

The Catholic Church should not be forced to practice or preach birth control, get the government out of the healthcare market.
You want an abortion, go to Planned Parenthood. Want to give your kid up for adoption, try Catholic Charities. They've got a good reputation.

I'm not saying to get birth control from st Josephs.i'm talking about st Josephs employees being able to use their insurance to help purchase birth control. The hospital should not be able to discriminate against women if the pay for insurance they should get the same coverage and treatment as anyone else. Your employer does not have the right to decide your health care bard on their religion.

mee wrote: go to the heath department and get the birth control for free. You can only receive services through the health dept if you don't have insurance. Plus, it's an income based program. I was wondering if they won't cover it now or was this post started concerning the Obama Care that they're talking about on the news now? I'm sorry but to me, ALL hospitals (religious or not) should treat ALL people with ALL medical treatment available and should stay out of their employees' insurance plans. You don't have to be Catholic to work there so they shouldn't dictate how you live. Plus, do they have the morning after pill at St Jo's for the possibility that someone was raped or molested? If they do, that would be a contradiction of their religious beliefs.

All birth control pills work through hormone regulation but that has nothing to do with cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is caused by HPV which is a sexually transmitted virus. The onlY birth control that prevents cervical cancer might be condoms or absenance... Neither of which have anything to do with hormones. There is a vaccine that prevents cervical cancer though. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Somebody has to pay for those condoms, there is no free lunch. This government regulation is immoral.
Stop big government, freedom to individuals, not political slogan. Free!
