Snake away sounds like a great product. I have two chi dogs and two large outdoor dogs. I could'nt bear to lose another one to a snake. My Dane did'nt mean to bother that snake, he was the smartest rattler dog I ever saw. He was the only one out the six dogs I had that would alert me to their presence. He probably stepped on it by accident. Still, a tramendous lose to my entire family. My two tiny dogs are not allowed outside alone, not just cause of the rattler's, but the birds of prey around here are just as dangerous to a five pound dog.

I have a 3.5 pound chi. She is such a sweet dog, I could not even imagine her taken by bird or killed by some snake. Once again I am sorry for the loss of your dog. One of my dogs was killed by a pitbull. It is a memory I will never be able to erase from my mind.

trust me, that Snake Away stuff really works. Just sprinkle it around the perimiter of your entire lot. Depending on how big an area you want to protect, it may take more than 1 container, but it is money well spent. I haven't had a snake in the pool in over 2 years now. I use the stuff religiously. If you have a fenced yard, put the stuff OUTSIDE the fence. THat will help keep the dogs noses out of it until the smell dies down. It does stink to high Heaven for about 24 hours, but it really does last for 2-3 months at a time, unless you put it down and then get a flood those first few hours after treatment. I get ill just SEEING a snake...even at the zoo, so believe me when i tell you that this stuff is a really good product.:D

chickens and peacocks keep snakes away- I live in rattlesnake land on lots of land, and while all the neighbors have snakes I don't because of the birds.
