IF THEY NEED CLASS ROOMS- THEN BUIKD THEM, THEY DON;T NEED SUCH A LARGE TAX INCREASE SINCE THEIR IS NO FACTORY TO HELP PAY THE WAY, IT IS JUST SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE ACTING LIKE SPOILDED KIDS, IF THEY DON'T GET WHAT EVER THE ASK FOR THEY THINK THE SKY IS FALLING.

Below is a link to a Jefferson County Journal Article.
It does take money to teach children. I do not live in Festus and my children do not go to school there, so it is really not up to me. I can tell you though that, compared to other High School facilities in Jefferson and St. Louis County, Festus has some serious needs. This ballot seemed to be an issue of financial need for the district and not want. http://jeffcountyjournal.stltoday.com/article... |

1 That alone would free up about 300 desks or so. Next thing they need to do is stop wasting tax payers money before someone calls in an audit. How embarrassing would that be for them? There is plenty of room to build on the campus they already operate from without having to build in a new location. There are parking lots...acres of them...that students use when they drive to school. I moved here from St. Louis where I went to high school decades ago. Even then, the school buildings were pre-W.W.II and no student drove to school and found comfort being able to park on school property. If they couldn't find a place to park on the street, then they took the bi-state bus. If they want tax payers to pass a tax increase then they can start showing that they are willing to also make some sacrifices. We already pay for school buses and for the drivers who operate them. There is absolutely no need whatsoever for students to drive to school. The district can use the land where the parking lots exist to build their new buildings that will accommodate more students. There is also a new building that R-6 constructed a few years ago that is used exclusively for the school district's administrators. They can move out of that building, use the trailers that they ALWAYS find room for, and use the administrative building for classrooms. There is just an incredible long list of things they can do to alleviate their manufactured "over crowded" issue without whining to the tax payers for more money but they absolutely refuse. The 42 million dollar proposal or nothing. It's childish how the district members behave. Just like children themselves. When they don't get their way they behave badly. Grow up for God's sake people! One final noteworthy issue I have is that when tax payers DO say NO, the proposal always finds a way to re-appear on the ballot. I want to suggest that if the issues are ever passed, why is it not possible then for the issue to re-appear on the ballot for another and another and another take until it is once again turned down? Wouldn't that be interesting. No, the R-6 district doesn't need 42 million dollars to fix their problem. They only need to pay attention to the voters. |
