Guys, I don't know if you realize it but schools in Monroe County are pathetic. I'm not being negative but something has to be done and I don't know what to do so leave suggestions.

I don't think that the problems at JMHS are very bad. The kids that want to do well are going to and the ones that don't care won't. I graduated 3 years ago. Ms. Parker was the principal then and there is no way that this Mr. Collins is any worse. They can't have drug dogs at the school every day, but I'm pretty sure when they catch someone with drugs they punish them.

I am very concerned for the academics! I know about 20 students have transfered to VA schools for the up coming school year. I have been told by this past years seniors that several had to retake the ACT test multiple times to score high enough to get in to college and these were 3.0- 4.0 students. I also heard scholorships were never turned in for some students.
What can we do??????????

The schools need to see that these are enforced.

Don't you know that an I is always capitalized. Come on now, you have a college education.

We need to stick together and really do something to help the school system improve, I'm sure we all have children or grandchildren in one of the four schools. If anyone has a realistic idea please share!!!

That's what PTAs are for--school improvement. Perhaps the concerned parents should get active in the PTA and involved in their local school if they really care...

Mike Collins is working his rearend off at JMHS. He has only been there a year, please give him time. He has the right attitude and is trying very hard. Would you rather have Ms. Parker? James Monroe is a great place and I am proud to be a Maverick!
