Car Hops

"Happy days" were born at places like Mason's Drive-In in the 1950's and 60's. I came to Mason's Drive-In Restaurant in Washington for the story of two girls, Tiffany Wininger and Lindsay Elliott.

As a little girl, I remember carhops at Clement's Drive-In in West Terre Haute. I thought they were the neatest thing! I live in Michigan City now and we have a place called Carlson's.(We all just call it the root beer stand.) The carhops are always so friendly and polite. While they don't have doo-wop music playing, it is EASILY one of the most popular places in town.

That atory sure brought back memeories of the Dog N Suds in Rockville, Indiana. I was very young, but remeber going there with my Parents and eating. The food was great, but the root beer was my favorite. I have 3 mugs from Dog N Sud, small to large. The last one in this area I remember was in Clinton, Indiana. It hasn't been gone to awful many years. I used to eat there after ours closed and was torn down. Thanks for the memories.

I also forgot that the Dairy Frost ibn Rockville , Indiana had car hops along with the Dog N Suds. Sounds like I need to make road trip back in time and my memories.
