Fine living: Green alternative to plastic produce bags

Full story: Marin Independent Journal

ISN'T IT ODD that we're encouraged to bring reusable shopping bags from home to the grocery store, but there aren't any alternatives to all those plastic bags in the produce department or the bulk bin section? Marin native Andrea Vincent thought so, too, so she came up with alternative and it debuts at all Mollie Stone's markets next week.

I will take a clean sterile plastic bag before people start brining their dirty unwashed veggiebed in to my store. You take it home place it on the unwashed counter of your home...then you go to my store pick up produce place it in your container weigh it and remove it because it is to much and then my daughter gets sick.

GROSS! I can see reducing shopping bags but what you are promoting is just gross.

I use biobags for my produce, it keeps things fresher for a lot longer and when I am done with it, it can be safely tossed into my compost and turned back into dirt for my garden - I also use biobags when I walk my dog - great stuff

There is a produce bag in most of the stores in the Bay Area and sweeping across the nation. It is made by Washableproducebags.com They are the best and light weight. They have been in Molly Stones for over 6 months and are selling great! They are also in Whole Foods Markets, Paradise Markets, United Markets, Nugget Markets and many many more. www.washableproducebags.com

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
