That's a shame, really. I'd like to know what the other circumstances were surrounding his death. Motorcycles are absolutely NOT toys, they can be very dangerous and should be used with the utmost caution. I myself was in a very tragic accident on one in 2001, i was very, very close to death until the wonderful doctors at HUP scraped me off the road and put me back together.

Why is this in our local news? He was acting like a jerk and paid the price. Only good thing is he didn't take anybody with him.
I'm not even gonna get into this. how was he acting like a jerk? he was on a motorcycle and he wrecked? I'll remember this when you get into an accident. you were being a jerk and got what you deserved (with absolutely minimal information on the topic at hand). |
Why do YOU even care. YOU'RE an idiot! |
You motorcyle maniacs fly around out there like there is no one else on the road. Sometimes without helmets, and who is the idiot? I know the motto, "let those who ride decide....to die" here is a clue, slow the flip down and maybe you would have as many broccoli bites sitting around drooling.

Old timer is bored; this is the reason why he/she makes such insensitive comments. I wonder if he/she would feel the same way if it was a family member of his/hers. With comments like the ones he/she made, he/she problably is a lonely old person.
A young man lost his life and this is a tragedy. I pray that his family will find the strength to get through this. |
Broccoli bites? Drooling? What the heck are you talking about, or do you even know. All you are doing is spouting off at the mouth. Oh, and wipe your bottom lip! |

Listen punk, if you read the article it states that he is 21, was speeding and the crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. Maybe I'm being an idiot but let's ASSUME this guy was coming home from a night out drinking a little too much. I lived near that road for a number of years and there is no where to go if someone loses control - you are toast. So as I said, it is good he took only himself to the other side.

I'm not old - I'm 35. Not bored either, but am sick of people driving recklessly. I have lost a family member and 2 close friends in horrific car wrecks. If someone has to be out at 2:30 in the a.m. they damn well better be sober and not driving as fast as they can or this is what will happen - and it all could be avoided. That's all I'm saying.

This is the local article -
Motorcycle accident claims Perryopolis man By The Herald-Standard 07/27/2008 Updated 07/28/2008 12:06:06 AM EDT A 21-year-old Perryopolis man was killed early Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle in a high-speed accident on Route 51, state police said. Corey Allen Silbaugh was traveling south at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road at 2:30 a.m., police said. He lost control of the 2006 Honda CBR 600 F4I he was driving and the bike laid down on its left side before colliding with a guide rail about a quarter-mile south of Route 201, police said, adding that he was wearing a helmet. Fayette County Coroner Phillip E. Reilly said the young man was thrown from the bike and his helmet, which showed signs of an impact, came off. The cause of death was a cervical neck spine injury and Silbaugh also suffered road burns, Reilly said. Reilly said the death was accidental and toxicology test results are due in a couple weeks. No autopsy will be conducted, he said. The Harry J. Johnston Funeral Home on North Gallatin Avenue in Uniontown is handling the funeral arrangements. |

Unless you were there at the time this young man crashed or with him in the time period before he crashed, you don't know why he was speeding. He could have been heading to a family emergency or anything else. Your comment was still insensitive. When it's your time, it's your time and there is no avoiding it. We can't cheat death. |
Do I need to say anything here?
you must own/ride a bike. Broccoli = veggie, you know, what you appear to be. Driving home from NC yesterday I saw so many of you maniacs swerving in and out, unsafe passing, it was scary. Granted I do not care what happens to the helmetless potential drool buckets, it's the potential crashes you cause us law abiding drivers to have. |
Joey, and what makes you so self righteous? Your ignorance seems to be clouding your righteousness. |
Western PA? I thought we ceded that to Canada long ago.
He some dumb Yinzer Penguins fan! Good riddance! |
My ignorance of what? You people speeding excessively and making dangerous lane changes without signaling? and then when one of you end up in pieces on the ground we all act surprised? Hmmmm, doing 80, on a wet road, coming to a curve, OMG, he like, ummm crashed! |

I'll apologize now before this thread gets any further, my rss reader takes me right to the comment page and I must not have read this particular article.
Having said that, I was young and stupid too; I also got drunk and got on my brand new motorcycle and wrecked, without a helmet, in the tunnel under the art museum.(You may have heard about it, my family got letters from people on the west coast that don't know us at all offering comfort.) And yes I came real close to death; as it was, i was comatose for 5 months and then after I woke I was administered drugs that as a side-effect of whatever the drugs were, that robbed me of 80% of my hearing. After I woke up i researched all the illegal drugs and that's why i'm so adamant about it not being a war on drugs but a war on minorities, because that's why those laws were written. In 1865 the Civil War ended with the north winning and outlawing slavery. In 1904 (after 'grandfather clauses'[google it] tactic failed, they started outlawing the drugs that these immigrants used. So once again, you can see a letter written to the Philly Metro here describing the real situation behind the war on drugs: http://tinyurl.com/waronminorities |

See Joey, You're still stereotyping those who ride motorcycles like they are all bad people. There are many buttholes on four wheels just as well. You can have your own opinion, which obviously you are quite opinionated, without insulting innocent parties. |
Ok Ok, Harley, you are one of the cyclist who obey the speed limit, make proper and safe lane changes and respect the laws of the road. |
