I sent the following letter to the DA's office today. This is absolutely outrageous. Our children are simply not safe with this kind of "justice" out there! Dear Mr. Hudson: I am outraged at the plea deal that was given to former Officer Morris! I have children in the Stillwater Public Schools, one of whom is at the Stillwater Jr. High, and was at the time of this incident and a friend of the victim. Officer Morris’ gross misjudgment not only affected the victim in this case, but all of the students who trusted and looked up to him as a role model, as my son did. It is evident that the only reason he received such a lenient plea deal was because of his position on the police force. I don’t believe that any civilian resident of Stillwater would have gone from a $25,000 property bond to a $1000.00 cash bond and then only receive 1 year in the county jail! This man needs to serve time in PRISON, not the county jail! You should be making an example out of him instead of condoning his crime. This has been a slap in the face to every taxpayer in Payne County, and especially the parents who have children in the Stillwater Public Schools, children that are supposed to be protected by a resource officer, not prayed upon. The prosecutor’s office should be ashamed and embarrassed at this miscarriage of justice.

" He lost his job with the Stillwater Police Department back in June when he was charged with two counts of rape by instrumentation and three counts of lewd acts as to a child under 16." WHAT???? WHY in the hell was he working for ANY school? Better yet, WHY isn't he ALREADY behind bars where he belongs for these previous charges??? DUH!!! Good reason to believe he will receive special treatment! Too bad the young girl isn't strong enough to go on the stand and burn this puke! let him know that eventually she might be okay BUT he won't!!! I hope he gets put away for life. Why in the world is he being offered a PLEA negotation? WRONG WRONG WRONG DA Hudson!!!!!

Cops and prosecutors work hand in hand! This isn't anything new. I wonder if this pervert would get special treatment if it were the DA's daughter? Or better yet, let the pervert work at the DA's home since he is special.

Why in the WORLD was he allowed to work at a school around children after being fired from the PD for lewd acts against a child?!?!? Whomever hired him should lose their job for not running proper background checks!!!

This is horrible! He should be locked away for life in my oppinion, but make sure to read the entire story before blasting who hired him. There are not previous charges, just these! He was an officer who worked for the school. He got fired from the pd AND the school because of the rape of this girl. They said this happened 5 months ago. I do think that if he takes this plea deal the DA should be fired though! What is going on with our law enforcement these days? I thought we were past so many bad people being given these positions!

I don't read much in this article in the way of facts concerning the allegations, but I do know that often lenient plea deals are offered because the prosecution doesn't have enough evidence to go on. Many times, all they have is the word of a kid, with no physical evidence to back it up, like semen, fingerprints, injuries, or even other witnesses. The prosecution doesn't want to put the child on the stand because they are afraid the kid will not be able to "hold their own" in making a good argument. Especially when cross examined. So they come up with the same old lame line of not wanting to traumatize the child more, when in reality, there is nothing more healing then getting on the stand in front of friends and family to face down your abuser. No better feeling like it, TRUST ME. Another dirty little secret is that plea deals get offered simply because they are cheaper then trials, and much cleaner. They offer less prison time, saving money in that area, AND the state gets another conviction on their books. It's a win/win for the state. Please don't think for one minute that the courts along with prosecuting D.A's actually give a rats butt about our children. They DON'T. We are all just dollar signs to them. I think kids involved in these allegations should be forced to take the stand. I know it's hard on them, but these are people's lives on the line who face many years behind bars. And every person has the RIGHT to confront their accuser. If it were my kid, I would make them get on the stand for many reasons. For one thing, it teaches them that you can't make an allegation like this (true or not) and then just walk away to watch the ensuing chaos. If they really WERE sexually abused, then having them get on the stand would NOT harm them further, but it would instead give them a sense of empowerment. The LAST thing we need to teach kids is that it's okay to just hide or run away. If they are teenagers, then YES they SHOULD be expected to be strong enough to take the stand. I don't know if this guy is guilty or not. I couldn't make out whether or not he had priors at all. But how do you defend yourself against these allegations? You can't. It's impossible.

It is obvious that many of you have no experience in the judicial system. Over the past 20 years I have seen many many many similar offenders receive similar punishments. Is it too light of a punishment...yes, but it has nothing to do with the fact that he was a police officer. If you want to get angry about sex offenders, especially adults that prey on children...get angry, but also get motivated and do something to change our laws. Spewing hate in these comments sections, isn't going to change anything.

He knew what he was doing when he was doing it. This man should be held to a higher standard or certainly the same as any Joe Blow off the street. You can't tell me that you or I would get a sweet deal like that if we were not a Police Officer, Sheriff or in any position of authority. This man was to protect our children, instead he preyed upon them. Bottom line, he is 48 she is 15 it is against the law. He should of known that being a Police Officer. If he didn't, what's the saying..Ignorance of the law is no excuse. I give applause to the young lady for having the guts to bring this to light. Keep your head held high young lady.

This deal reeks of good ol' boy politics! Check into the accused pervert's family background and you'll see that he comes from a family of law enforcement. The DA is weak and spineless. I wonder if the DA has any children and how he might react if some pervert was accused of crimes against his child. Wake up people!

This would be an appalling miscarriage of justice to allow such a light plea bargain for the charges this former resource officer is facing. He has abused his position of trust for our children and this young girl deserves to see justice for what she has experienced. I pray she is able to see law enforcement work like it should for the protection of our children in this situation. What message would this send any children facing this horrific situation in the future? He should not be given ANY preferential treatment.

Um, maybe if you guys were informed more, u would know the girl is having a hard time b/c she is in love with the guy. Its charges of Rape b/c she is a minor not b/c she was forced or was unwilling. I am not saying it isn't way wrong or he shouldn't be punished, however they were making plans of getting married and such. So, if you get a girl on the stand who says she is in love with him and doesn't want the relationship to end kind of hard to get a good solid conviction. NOt that he isn't just as bad as those stupid women teachers who have had affairs with the teenage boys in their classrooms, who were completely willing but they get a lot more time than this guy is getting.

This child is my grandaughter. Do you not know that Morris dad is a retired deputy sheriff. Think about this and what is going on. Morris should be treated as any other person that would do this, and they are not ususlly let out on $25,000.00 bail They are kept in jail. Just be fair is all we ask.
