this is an incredible oversight. the engineers doing the initial property evaluation should have identified this issue since the army did not try to conceal what was on the land.

Abandon your home or tell your mortgage company you will pay them less your legal bills.
You should be going after every Governmental authority, the builder, the PMI companies, the mortgage companies TAKE NO PRISONERS they set you up. Sounds like conpsiracy for the almighty dollar like ive never seen it before. |

Real-estate broker John Jennings said it is almost impossible to sell houses in the area of the old bombing range.
"It doesn't surprise me," he said. "There's not a lot of ways to sugarcoat a bombing range or contaminated area I guess I am diabetic if it was sugar coated, cause it's a bunch of B****S***. Bet the Florida Real Estate "Ethics" Committee finds NO FAULT in these transactions! |
|
|
The governor, and federal government need to freeze foreclosures for this area until there is clearance by the Army.

Those poor people. What a mess!

These houses wouldn't move in a good market. Reminds me of the 'Love Canal' case in New York - these folks are major-league screwed.

Again,Florida NOT even taking care of their citizens!!! Why would anyone even think about buying in Fl. when they can lie and not be responsible for it? I guess it will probably take someone getting DEAD before local gov.steps in,but then that will probably take years with Christ as gov.!!!! It's really sad, when will we actually take care of our own people? We need someone to hold these business responsible for their actions!!!!!!!!!!

I just don't see how a developer can not know that the area used to be a bombing range! the government should also be included in the lawsuits, this is there mess, now it's their responsibility to clean it up.

Finally a Sentinel story about victims who actually ARE victims. These people got screwed and the state government should be helping.

The builders and engineers should be arrested immediately and thrown in jail where they can post bond while awaiting their trial. If anyone is killed by a bomb or toxic chemical the builders and engineers should be charged with negligence homicide. enough of these unethical criminal developers. see what they do-this is how they all operate.

i do know what these people are facing-i was a 'stakeholder' for over 5 years w/ a base closure in clark county, washington and during that time DoD paid for me to attend UXO and other related conferences.
these people are facing 'deadly' risks-uxo's become extremely 'unstable' as time goes on, propellants and explosives 'split-some stay in the dirt while others find their way into the aquifers-unfortunately contaminating water supplies to others who do not live 'on top' of these 'military messes left behind by the military'. this is NOT a 'one, two or three' easy step problem much less solution-i know-i fought against turning over 3800 acres of the most beautiful acreage one could see w/ the 'naked eye' due to what i knew was 'underneath it or lurking hidden in the overgrown areas'. i wish these families the best w/ this warning 'you do not believe anything you hear w/out documentation and your 'gut' but that is a whole other discussion! |

Imagine if this was debris left over by GE or Lockheed Martin. Just imagine. The EPA would be all over those companies getting them to clean it up. Now realize that it was our own federal government that left it there. Now what happens. Very little until you get the whole congressional delegation involved.

Orange County authorities, title companies, and the developers need to provide some answers ASAP as to how this happened, and these people should be relocated immediately. This is sickening. Plus, it devalues all Florida real estate when innocent homeowners can't buy a house with any kind of security that it is a safe location for residential use. Who let a SCHOOL be built on this property? Morons and people out to make a buck all around.

This really sucks and I thought I was in a bad spot. How in the hell can crap like this be aloud to happen?I know somebody knew this was a bombing range and that their was a likelyhood of there being some un-exploded ordinance out there and yet they still developed this land.
Yesterday I said I hated lawyers, well today I hope they get the meanest and sharpest lawyer they can find. This is out and out thievery and these crooks that did this know what they did was wrong. I hope you people win your lawsuit and that I'm on the jury.Good Luck |

I wish that I could start by saying "unbelievable" but I can't. In fact I'm not even a little bit shocked, ok I'm a little shocked. I'm shocked that they did this in an area that commands that kind of money and not a low income project!
developer = dirtbag |

Structural engineers don't evaluate property, they inspect once it is built. They have nothing to do with the location. Please learn job descriptions before placing blame.

i live in tivoli gardens and my builder is mercedes homes. This is a case of builders hiring the wrong people to do their enviromental report. It's really sad that builders with millions invested make this kind of mistake. It is very hard to believe that the builders did not know that there were bombs in the ground. why? because it was public informatin, that the tivoli gardens area in lee vista, use to be a bombing range before. soorry for the speling ..

before you give me an engineer lesson let me tell you that engineers are the highest represented groups among terrorist leaders. engineers are usually behind many human made problems. of course they do some good here and there when they build a bridge that doesn't fall down, or other structures that are safe.
