now I have to think about it. i own a bull terrier mix. i adopted her since she was so abused she was missing 90 percent of her hair from being burned and dragged behind a car. after 3 years of letting her know that no one would hurt her anymore she is the perfect pet. before that she was afraid of everyone, hid under beds, cried in her sleep, was afraid to be alone,would go pee on the floor if anyone raised their voice in my house and the only time she showed any real emotion toward a child was to push my sister away with her body while her daughter screamed while she gave her meds. what an awful dog. she now sleeps at the foot of my toddlers bed. and protects her with her life. and guess what i have her and a 12 lb mix dog. neither one is allowed to be with her alone. they are dogs and i know that. doesnt matter what breed. all dogs need to be watched around kids. you also have to show then who is boss and not train them to hurt people. some are bad and its the owner not the dog.

My APBT has and will continue to protect my property and family.We have two young kids, one APBT on Gotti bloodline pit and a american bulldog.Not one of mmy dog pose a threat,unless someone is trespassing or we are in danger.the APBT has attacked 2 diffrent people.One guy was trying to steal her,(broke down my fence,knocked her over her kennel) and the other was tryiing to use her as bait his dog was mangled and so was his left leg...you tell me if they deserved it.So there was two diffrent police reports the first one exscaped and called the cops.he was charge on with two missdomeanor's theaft of property uner a 1000$, tresspassing.and he paid the vet bill, new kennel.AND 600 dollers for replacment fence.The other guy was charged with animal cruelty,tresspassing...and the vets bills.Not to mention i had to call the cops after i arrested him and took the dog off.Yes my dog protect my property.yes pitbulls are dangerous in the wrong hands.yes all dogs should be cautiously watched around young children,and should never be left alone together.my dogs are sweet,but will not think twice to mame you for doing wrong or if i say so.Niether time has that particular dog been labeled a niecence.thanks...

You people are very ignorant, you should learn your facts about the bred first, any dog will bite if it is trained to and if it is treated wrong thats just how it is, its not there fault they have large jaw muscles and can bite harder, by the way if you actually got your facts straight and OWNED A DOG OF THIS BRED YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IF YOU RAISE THEM TO LOVE AND BE NICE THATS HOW THEY WILL BE!

I have an American Staffordshire Terrier and he is the sweetest, most loving dog i have ever had. I also have a choclate lab who has snapped at our neighbor dog when the "pitbull" has not! I cannot grasp this whole wanting to ban "pitbulls" when there are sooo many other "dangerous" dog breeds out there! What about Chows? they are very nasty mean dogs but just because "pitbulls" have the lock jaw to make the attack worse they have to be banned? They didnt chose to be born with lock jaw however they are being punished. But humans that are born with mental illiness and do crazy stuff like KILL another human being get off the hook and get sent to a mental institute for a little while. What the hell is that shit! i dont understand how you can ban a certain dog breed and we cannot ban those human beings who threaten our lives! People are just very ignorant when it come to this subject and they just take what they hear and they go with it. its plan IGNORANT! get a freaking clue people just think about what if someone was trying to ban your family pet that you love with all you heart how would you feel? its the same exact thing. there is no reason to discriminate again "pitbulls" if we cannot discrimiate aginst blacks! get the point?

I am a PROUD owner of two of the most beautiful, caring, and loving American Staffordshire Terriers I have ever seen (registered by AKC, ADBA, and UKC). I am also a proud granmother of a beautiful granddaughter who is not even two years old yet. My family dog members allow this baby to jump on them, pull their ears, ride their backs, and even pull their food bowls away from them on everyday occassions! These animals have a bad stigma due to irresponsible owners. I can take them out on walks ANYWHERE with slack in their leashes around MANY other dogs at riverwalks, parks, in the neighborhood, etc. They, like any other dogs, are only as bad as they are trained to be. Yes, their bite is bad, that is why you teach them NOT to bite. Place laws and regulations against any owners who treat their animals with cruelty and neglect, not against the breed in-and-of-itself!
