Bush and co. invaded Iraq, captured Saddam, and then hung him because Saddam had the balls to sell oil in Euros rather than US$. It wasn't to "spread democracy" or to "liberate the people". It was purely about money and revenge.

Regardless, his public excuse was to liberate Muslims. And Repubs firmly supported "Operation Iraqi Freedom".
Bush said we have to liberate those people, and the right said everyone who didn't support Bush was a "traitor".
Now the right wakes ups, but they don't want to admit they were asleep at the switch.
