Boycott Goodwill Stores During Holidays

Goodwill industries Goodwill will try to screw you over like they did me they don't help anyone but themself saginaw, Michigan

They were so cheap that when it came winter the heat didn't work in the building all we had is a space heater that was to eat a small room like I mean SMALL, yet it was suppose to heat 2 huge stores front/back even when we had to have the garage door open to load the truck, I complained along with the 2 other guys about the heat issue they sent there useless repair people out and they said they had no idea why it wasn't working, left and did nothing, I complained several more times, sent them again, once again useless,

finally after a few weeks of freezing in 30 degrees inside the building a heating company comes out and says yeah the heater is shot its going to cost like $3k at least to fix it, and he said they won't fix it I know they won't spend this money, he sent them the things wrong with it, and they said they weren't going to fix it because they plan on closing this store within a year, I'm like are you kidding me? So I call the corp office complain to the main guy he's like if your that cold you must not be working that hard, 30 degrees are you kidding me? So I just kept reporting the issue as I had to sit out in my car for at least a half hour at a time with my heat blasting to stay warm I got sick several times,

then I started getting written up for all these random reasons I knew they wanted to fire me so they didn't have to fix the issue at hand, not only all these problems but this wall that was HUGE had black mold all over it, I mean COVERED in black mold, I showed several people it and they said that looks bad they did nothing about it, so I ended up quitting due to unsafe work conditions and collected unemployed for about a month then I got denied stating I quit and blah blah, I ended up fighting it for over six months, seen a unemployment judge they didn't show of course because they knew they were wrong,

I won and yeah goodwill is nothing but a fraud company, they help no one, they start you out at dirt wages, gave me a 15 cent increase in pay that's it, stay far away from them they lie at helping disabled people as I was one and they had me slave to do things for nothing and the major disabled people they have doing shit jobs like sweeping floors in the back so no one can see them.. Your money goes to the CEO's that are getting paid over 150k a year, Yes they actually earn over 100k a year everyone at the corp offices you can get this info too but looking into it, and the real hard workers can't even make it in life or pay there bills..

Sounds like the Goodwill of Arizona store at 32nd and Greenway when Soto was the manager and Vern Dunn was the district manager. The back huge wall of that store was completely covered with black mold - and it was ignored for almost a year by these two people.. Finally, someone made a complaint to the proper authorities and that's when Goodwill had someone come in and clean up the wall. That store is still a filthy place full of junk broken items. This store at one time was the number one best store in the valley. Now it should be closed down and condemned.

Goodwill of Central Arizona Corporate VP Kim Rydor was criminally charged with check fraud. Even though she was charged the Goodwill Board has allowed her to continue working in corporate making a huge salary. The Goodwill Board and Corporate must follow an ethic code in order to continue their non-profit status. They both have, most certainly, not followed their ETHIC CODE.

Arizona Bad Check Law

According to Arizona Revised Statute §13-1807, issuing a bad check is only criminal when the issuer has knowledge of insufficient funds in the bank for full payment of the check. In other words, knowledge of check fraud is what makes it a crime. Check fraud prosecutors and plaintiffs must prove that any person or corporation that drafted and/or issued a check to them against an account with insufficient funds was aware of the financial deficiency.

Ms. Kim Rydor had knowledge, that she had insufficient funds, but she continued to write her bad check anyway.

i been workin here for a couple of months an didnt mind in the begining .1st i would like to say that im a processor an we derserve WAY more than 7.65 /hr a man came and did a speech to us sayin how we make good will and how we make more stores and all this why we get paid so much the UESED items are OVER priced..i want to say that our mangers are MEAN you cant even ask them nothing without you thinking you will get fired the next day. my manager does NOTHING we didnt gloves or goggles and never tells us if we make our quato they all walk around with there sour as faces like its the end of the world we need people we feel comfortable talking to and not feel awakward around who can i go to if i can go to them....EMPLOYEES HAVE NO VOCIES AT WORK . managers dat need to be replaced, VERN,ADAM, KAREN,TOBE these people DONT like there employees and wat can we say if we do we get FIRED

This person has it right on the money. Vern should be replaced as most customers and employees feel the same way. Vern is allowed to do as he pleased by Tim O'Neal the corporate Chief Operating Officer. TETER the Goodwill CEO admitted he knew nothing about the non-profit business when he got his mega money job at Goodwill. How perfect for O'Neal to be the ONE TO RUN THE SHOW. I am waiting for O'Neal to bring the stores down even worse than they are now. WHAT'S NEXT.

​Prices are highway robbery. For example, 6 tea candles are $1.50; picture frame is $1.00 original price sold as $0.99. Shorts that you can buy in Dillards for $5.99 are sold for $7.99. Souvenir glass worth $2.99 is sold for $1.99. Their prices are becoming exorbitant, and unreasonable. Poor people come here but are paying higher than Walmart, Walgreen, Ross or Dollar stores. I hope the one in charge of the prices in the store should go shopping to the stores mentioned for comparison.

It would be great if we can get the idiot that prices these outrageous prices to visit all the Goodwill stores. Unfortunetly, he will not only find extremely high prices but also very dirty stores that really have nothing in them but junk Besides, the people that work in these stores look very depressed, and the manager's are now doing what Dolan Laveen should be doing. However, now that Mr. Laveen is in corporate he just sits on his behind like the rest of those in corporate and gives his stupid orders. Teter the supposed CEO is nothing but a figure head to O'Neal who really is dying to get Teter's job. Imagine the people who are in corporate. It is a disgrace. O'Neal the uneducated one and his dumb cashier mistress who is making mega bucks because she is just a MISTRESS. She was also charged in court for passing bad checks. Kim has her job because she is Tim,s mistress and everyone knows it.If anyone else dated a person that worked for them at goodwill thay would be fired.Tim has HR in his pocket and the board also.As for Jim he can not even remember your name even when you see him most days at corp office and in meetings.

Poor JIM, sounds like he has Alzheimer's. Another corporate member bites the dust. It has been reported that the non-profits are not getting donations as they use to. Will Porky keep opening new stores or will he be closing some?

What's with all these phony commercials that Goodwill has on TV,etc. lately. Spend your money on cleaning your filthy stores and getting some new managers with smiles on their faces. The public is catching on to GOODWILL's unethical practices. Put your money where it will do some good and do not waste it on your phony lies that you are trying to create with your commercials. The truth if it were told would not be anything like how you are trying to screw the public over with your sweet commercials. Goodwill corporate needs a complete clean-up starting with Porky and his mistress. Now, wouldn't the public like to know what is realy going on in corporate. That would be another front page story. We here in Phoenix have been trying to get Goodwill Corporate to post their salaries, but they are keeping it to themselves. What are they afraid of - as a non-profit they must disclose their salaries even though O'Neil feels it is none of our business. Goodwill YOU ARE A SCAM BUSINESS and the public is learning more and more of your underhanded practices and we do not like it.

If you want to look at the top executive's salary, try www.guidestar.com . Nonprofits are required to complete the 990, and those are located on this site. It's free, and is a good source of information.

I'm not going to defend everyone who works at Goodwill, but I'd like to make a few comments based on what I know from being in Workforce Development for the past 15 months.

-Yes, the stores can have issues. In our district, we hire a fair amount of our program participants so they can get some work history on their resumes. Some of them haven't worked in years, may have a GED, or have other "barriers to employment.". This is a learning experience for them and can be stressful for managers, who aren't social workers or career coaches and don't always get it. I would also love to see higher salaries for store staff; ours make. 8 dollars an hour, which I don't believe is sufficient.

-Prices. I know prices can be high. Just know that the money (at least in my district) goes to fund job training programs that will give participants the skills needed to obtain employment (preferably at a living wage).

-Corporate. While a lot of them are great and well meaning, many are too far removed from store and Workforce Development staff to really understand what goes on. It's an issue that we continually work to address.

-Salaries. Our executive makes 140,000 a year in an organization with a 27 million dollar budget and 500 employees. It's a good amount; however, large nonprofits have to pay decent wages if they want to hire quality staff with MBAs/MPAs who can effectively manage such a large organization. The same doesn't hold true for the social workers, unfortunately, nor for other lower level employees (I work there part time as an administrative assistant for a WFD program and almost have my Masters, but make 10 dollars per hour).

-Keep in mind that every Goodwill is very different. Some are great, and some less so. I just ask that you don't judge Goodwill as a whole by one bad experience or one less than stellar district.

Maybe some of the Goodwills are okay. Our Goodwill in Arizona is run by Corporate members that are not fit to run a non-profit. Jim Teter the CEO was an employee of Avnet which is also part of Goodwill's board. This makes it a conflict of Interest which is against the Goodwill's ethic policy. Goodwill of Arizona's VP Kim Rydor was criminally charged with check fraud. This is a proven fact. This is most certainly against Goodwill's ethic policy to hire someone with this criminal background.

Tim O'Neal the Chief Operating Officer whistle blew on Keith Mason and CEO Diane Hanson for a Goodwill Corporate romanance. This made the front page of our newspaper (google in Goodwill Romance) and you can read the article. Now the whistle blower Tim O'neal has a romance with Kim Ryder. We need to clean up our CORPORATE and get some honest people.

Dolan Laveen is now in corporate as Director of Loss Prevention. He orders the store managers to do his dirty work and these people have no formal training in loss prevention.

The only people that are given jobs in CORPORATE ARE CLOSE FRIENDS. Google in Goodwill Rip Off reports and you will see that this is not an isolated matter. If people in Arizona only knew how unethical this non-profit for profit really is they would never donate to Goodwill of Arizona
