Don't know your age group - assume young. Finish high school - go to college of something you have interest in - get a job - house - wife - kids - before you know it - it's time to retire. Don't waste your life looking for something to do. At college, work you will meet friends and share interests. Take it from me - I was there once. Good luck.

For all those idiotic adults who think kids need to clean the house when they are bored, like you said it could get us ready to be an adult, but guess what WERE KIDS!!! Why should any kid have to spend they're incredible teen years cleaning the house to "learn responsibility" What is so wrong with being a kid??? I'm fixing to go off to school. Cleaning the house every time I was bored wouldn't make me anymore prepared so shut up! The thing that helped me out was hanging with my friends. Learning to balance my time. Family time, school time (btw I go two days a week to the college cuz I'm dual enrolled cuz I'm taking responsibility for my school), church, work, and God forbid a little fun. When I get that time to do something with my friends there is nothing to do. We don't wanna sit around and do nothing or clean each other's houses or whatever. We want a place to go for as cheap as possible to make as many awesome memories as possible before we have to "grow up" It's ridiculous how little there is for kids. They have two parks for toddlers and then bars what are the kids in between those ages supposed to go? We fall thru the cracks and yeah, turn to drugs and alcohol and doing things we aren't supposed to do cuz that's all we can do without doing nothing. Someone needs to make like a teen hangout or something. And if your over 30 shut up cuz things have changed believe it or not.

Teens should be allowed to be teens..not forced into pre-mature adult hood. Teens have a hard time finding jobs here in Pensacola, adults have a hard time finding decent paying jobs. Why? The people we keep electing are not pro-active in creating opportunities for the young people growing up in this community. It is a stark representation of what is going on across this nation..the haves are ignoring and pushing aside the have nots. Instead of creating a dynamic thriving community..we are at the mercy of the status quo. Maybe Florida Leaders should visit Alabama and look into what is working over there, seems like our folks in office have no clue. Teens have always succumb to temptations that come with an idle mind. Remember an Idle mind is the devil's workshop. We need to change the attitude Pensacola has towards needs of our younger generation...all of them. That change begins at the voting booth.

I feel bad for you kids. I have 2 teens and they don't like the lack of opportunities available for teens to earn pocket money to do things and injoy life. Pensacola is actually a neat place to live..beautifull beaches here..but the leaders of this city and county are not looking to the future by providing the younger generation with some positive opportunities..the few that are available usually go to connected people in this town... so yup your right..kids get into trouble..Try to hang on I'm sure things will get better..they seem to always do. If you can't vote then Tell your parents to vote out ineffective leaders..Because, if they can't govern for everyone, including the kids/teens..young adults also, then they need to be fired.

im 18, an eagle scout, and going off to college in the fall. i have a part-time job, but i still dont think there is much to do. I cant go camping, even being an eagle scout, without some cop showing up and getting on our asses. you cant build a fire, go out shooting in the woods, even at 18. I can vote just like any other american but if i look the wrong way a pig will question why im destroying society. You cant go mudding anywhere or police will get you, you cant camp, or hang out, but i can go to a parking lot in the middle of little rock, ar and sit and drink a beer and watch my friends smoke pot and a cop wont say a thing. everyone is worried about lawsuits and watching there back. Why cant i go camping or just have some good clean fun.

there is plenty to do, just the popo's wont let young people do it. i would love to just be able to go hiking and lay under the stars but im afraid my car will get ticketed or jacked while im doing it.

we dont need a place to go, just old fashioned things to do would be great.

I am the parent of a 16 yr old in Pensacola and, yes, I worry that, with nothing else to do, he and his friends will stumble upon trouble. He tells me that, because there is so little to do, too many kids in this area mess with drugs and alcohol and sex.

But there is good news!

You want to meet new people, enhance your chances for college, and help others too? Get involved!! There is a local organization that has grown to over 400 high school students over the past 3-4 years that works with local organizations that need volunteers to help with events or just everyday activities. AND time spent volunteering helps with some of the requirements for the state scholarships offered through the Bright Futures scholarship program (http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssf... ). The name of this organization is Chain Reaction (http://mychainreaction.org/ ). "The secret to Chain Reaction’s success is that it’s teen-directed, teen-driven, and teen organized." They work with groups like Ronald McDonald House, public tv station WSRE at PJC, Manna Food Bank, the Goombah Festival, and many others (see a list here http://mychainreaction.org/partners.html ). My son has accumulated over 200 hrs with them in the last two years. CHECK IT OUT!

Churches do a good job, at least the big ones that have the resources and caring adults to help with activities.

Schools have some good after school activities geared towards career interests and sports (computer clubs, debate teams, engineering clubs, etc). Go to sporting events and hang out together supporting your school's team. Afterwards, go to Denny's or Cici's or Pizza Hut or Waffle House for good food and conversation, then go home.

We were out at the beach last night for dinner and was very pleased to see the activities going on. The Escambia Amateur Astronomers' Association (http://www.eaaa.net/ ) had telescopes set up at Casino Beach for viewing the moon, Jupiter and four other planets, and constellations.
Also at Casino Beach was a free showing of the movie "National Treasures 2". There was free live bands playing at Quietwater Beach's bandshell. Or just hang out on the sand.
There are car clubs in town that have 'get togethers' almost every weekend. Sam's Fun City regularly tries to do events for teens. Check out the YMCAs in town.

Well this has gotten longer than I thought so I think I will start a BLOG to try to help you stay informed.

I can tell you why teens are targeted. Because they leave trash eveywhere they gather, they drive like idiots doing donuts and power slides in crowded parking lots. Do you want the liability for there actions on your property. If so, I will be glad to draw them a map to gather!
you know what, teens arent the only ones leaving trash around, or driving like idiots. everyday i see some old hag driving like there are no stop signs, or speed limits in their new audi down a two lane road. further more never have any of my friends done donuts in a crowded parking lot, just out in hte middle of nowhere when there is no one around because we are BORED do you know what that word means? there is nothing for teens to do in Helena, MT or almost any where else. seriously, if you are tired of your so called "teens" are doing, provide an alternative, give us something fun and entertaining to do and maybe we will get off your property so you wont be liable for us. apparently you dont have a teenager, but you were one once and you cannot tell me that you didnt do any thing crazy just because you were bored...

If your really cool, you just have good friends... like back in the days of Bunker and Landis (remember, Pensacolas Boys?) and then, you just rock out and use your imagination, tell stories, go and pull six bucks together and go to sonic and goof off in your car and stop blaming society for your problems. Rich bi-sexual kids from east hill with thier front porch Buddahs and wierdo propfess parents are always unhappy, suicidal, getting into drugs, going to shrinks. The toruble isn't intertainment. It's you. That and annoying cops who think kids doing ANYTHING is a Violation of some shi-...crap.

I can't speak for girls who don't possess the wonders of big eyes, nice shape and rosey lipped cute ness, plus good, sweet, cheribic features that make being a slender, almost anacrchonisticly good looking young girl worth while, but, if your like me, and your a teeny bopper bomb shell, with just the right about of sponteniaty, common sense, adventure and perspective to realize your place in the world, go ahead and use it!

Do I have to go right out and say it? Well, these days, and in pensacola, proabably. Honey, if you've got hat magic somthing, that is, if your good looking (and not jsut some fat white trash slice of mediocure) USE IT! I just turned 18. But having gorwn up well off in new york (I am well aware of the benifits of rich hippy parents) I can assure you that a touch of class mixed with a eye for adventure can pay, IF you have your wits about you. If you like seeing what you can get away with, view the outside world as a socail expermiemtn, AND love the feeling of the busy world quietly falling into timless lust over your young ripe body, then make it work for you. I am dicreet, but for the past two years, I've been in FIVE differents mens houses lots of times (though, I've only had a few short term boyfriends my age, alas- though I look- they're all so boring) I absolutly LUV the feeling of older mens hands uppon me, the way they look at you, even when they're trying to convience themselves they're not.... And, if you know what to do, where to go and what to say, you really can make them do anything, without even having to humiliate yourself with a add in the papaer. Staying over at a friends house, mom, is all you have to say.
I've made 600 in a day, and 2000 in a week, and all I have to do is drive my little honda cevic around (on my parents gas) and live it up... from golf breeze, to East hill, to one man in Pace.... They all LOVE a soft, bright eyed young girl in a short little shirt. and what can I say? If I were a guy I'd do me. It's fun, no attachments, not ronchy (unless I want it to be)So many men don't care enough to go after what they want, but with a little tacful manuevering (honestly girls, all wemon have it) you can get yourself a fun hobby, just being worshiped before the old dried up bag comes home.

You know I'm 14 and my parents dont even let me go outside at night, in fear of med getting 'stolen' or something. The world is way to cussioned- just let us do what we want (give us a good idea instead of play video games)! They keep going on with children bieng obese- its a bunch of crap, what about the kids that arent. We get lectured about it anyway. And no, hangin in a basement all night isn't fun, it sucks, especially when your parents are too paranoid to give you some space... They walk down the steps every 5 minutes asking what we are doing. Just give it up!

Teens should never be out 10 at night on the street and if they are they do not have a decent home life and parents!
my curfew is eleven and i'm 17 and i have a decent home life. so you should say that people dont have a decent home life if they are out walking around at ten. kids get bored, and why be stuck inside when you can be walking around in the fresh air with your friends. too often kids sit around inside all day, its sad, kids should have fun outside.

If you had a job, cause you are 19, and not living off your parents you would have your but in bed at 2 am. And as for the cop who stopped you, it is his job to check out someone at 2am. It is not the cops fault
that more teens than not commit crimes. If teens and
certain other people want acceptance from the mojority then clean up your act a little. As long as your are acting and doing things the majority does not approve of the you will not be accepted, and there in lies the problem, all these oppressed people
sre not willing to give up the drugs and crime but want acceptance.
i have worked for the past two summers and i didnt go to bed early like you say kids would if they had a job. some nights i didnt close till eleven and i wanted to hang out with my friends so i would GO OUT and stay out just hanging around and playing games like tag or frisbee wtih my friends till the wee hours of the morning. cops just expect that all kids these days are bad and that no matter what, if they are out late, they are probably doing drugs or drinking. but WE'RE NOT. so leave us alone. let us have good clean fun
