Teens need things to do, right? So tell us what it is.

Not every teen wants to sit at home every night watching TV, or worse a sibling.
But movie theaters can only do so much for those of us who want to be outside, moving around.
We meet up at the same place every time we go out. And the topic is always the same.
The conversation is always the same.
"What do you want to do?"
"I dont know, what is there to do?"
"Nothing."
"I hate this place..."
"yeah..."
Its not somthing we want to admit, but since Hurricane Ivan there has been little to no teen scenes anywhere but the movie theaters.
Theres no club downtown to hang out at. So we dont go downtown anymore.
Most of us have exhausted our supply of movies, and skateparks and the beach only last until the sun goes down.
So what is there?
Where is there?
Give us some hints please.
Even bayfront, where all the teens and others who simply like to play with their cars, clean them up and show them off have become a target of suspision and victim of police harrasment, just for being out at 10 o'clock at night.
So help us out.

I can tell you why teens are targeted. Because they leave trash eveywhere they gather, they drive like idiots doing donuts and power slides in crowded parking lots. Do you want the liability for there actions on your property. If so, I will be glad to draw them a map to gather!

I know you damn kids will just think I'm some olf bastard about to shake a stick at you, but the truth is
1) Teens, as young people are now called (believe it or not, there was a time in this country when you were just "young" and then gradually "grown".... where was I... Teens have a tell of a time hanging out because you've gorwn up subsidized by school and never know how to take the inniciative to just hang out, say, at the beach... or in a retraunt... make a club house... have a few beers with the guys... everyones waiting for somone else to invite them to a scene.. with the exception of a few, you don't know what to do without structure... no routine....
and 2) since your parents have nothing personally (experience wise) in most cases to invest in you little shit for brains you just vege out on my space.... would you really want to be so lame as to hang out every night at some juice bar called "teen-paradise" or some such crapola? Why not just take a walk down the railroad tracks, hell fall in love and stop being such hypercritical underdeveloped little assholes... Your lucky your not in a war! I know your parents are full of shit in most cases, but your on your own and existenail dispair is for the birds! Quit sulking and be hardcore... We were (though, most my friends never made it back from Nam...)

Thats largly a stereotype... My teen daughter and all her friends drive the new hondas thier parents got them... the boys will be boys... make everyone a criminal. thats always fun...

I agree. I am an adult and as far as Crestviews concered there isnt anything to do.
1. We have a run down movie theater that only holds 3 movies that smells of cleaning cemicals and the seats are falling apart. It cost the same amount for a ticket as the rave in Destin.

2.We have a skating rink that has the same skates, rink, seats, and wall coverings from when I was a child 20 years ago. The floor is pealing and cracking away and it is expensive too for the condition that the rink and skates are in.

Our kids need thinkg to do .. otherwise they do "stupid" things that get them into trouble.

so, basically, lets make the town, state, do stuff for us REDNECKS so our kids don't... like... have to think for themselves.. The real world is not some place constantly entertaining you. Get some friends and entertain yourself. As it is now, kids get arrested for just chilling in a parking lot (have you ever seen Happy Days..) or walking down a country road. We're afraid if they're not in some kind of INSTITUTION they're on meth, like half thier parents.... what to do when someones not there to do somthing for me! Entertain me! Waaaaaahn! The answer to everything isn't "get someone to build somthing"

There is a place where they can go visit each other...get a bite to eat and walk around...the mall...OH YEAH now they want to run them out of the mall, too. I guess they could go hang out on the side of the interstate or something. And who said "get a beer"? Someone who just crawled out from under a rock and hasn't heard the drinking age is 21.

Whatever happened to kids just hanging out on in thier basments, at Sonics? Stuff like that. Hell, when I was a kid, we'd just go down to the river and swim. Do that now, and you'll get arested, but WHY?
(saying, times change, doesn't cut it...) theres more to this... Anyone not "connected" to the fast paced economy is suddenly a "vagrant" or a "enemy of the state." All bull crap. Kids today, if they even KNEW about old fashioned hang out fun, would get arrested fo walking on a rail road track or picking black berries....("Times change"- No, people quit living... Americas CLOSED- unless your in your own house, or on a computer, ranting and raving...) Pretty soon, kids will get arrested just for walking on the sidewalk. "Who are you!? What are you doing? Why? Why are you ALONE?" all crapolla.
As a society, why don't we change our standard of OKAY to somthing besides "teen hubs" where everyone has a "place to be" we deemed "SAFE" Thats not the real world. At least not one I want to be part of...

There does need to be a teen dance place @ least once a month,an arcade and more sidewalks in this town.It keeps growing and thats not going to stop.Teens need these places.People are ignorant who say just figure out something to do.Teens these days need more than the streets to hang out on.Esp. these streets with no sidewalks!

It would just be nice to know of something to do.
Here in Pensacola they throw festivals and such, but none are really oriented towards the teenage population, so we dont go.
Some of us dont want to go out and sit in our friends basement drinking.
Its not fun.
Its not eventful.
Everything there is to do here for some reason seems to be alcohol oriented, and therefore we cant take part in it.
The other day I was walking around Downtown Pensacola at like 2am with my friends.
We had been throwing the damn football bored out of our skulls in the park there.
And an officer pulls up to us with his lights on and gets out of the car.
He walks up to us and shines his damn flashlight in our face and asks
"What are you doing out here?"
"Throwing a football, now we are going back to the car."
"At 2am? Bullshit. What are you doing out here?"
"Throwing a football. He lives right over there, so we came here to throw the football"
"What are your name? Lemme See your ID"
"What did we do? I dont have my ID its at his house."
"Do we need to call your parents smart ass?"
Basiclly it went on like that until finally he either got bored of it, or just decided he was done. And he said "Dont let me catch you out here like this again."
And drove off.
ITS BULLSHIT.
I shouldnt have to be worried about being profiled and verbally attacked in my own damn town.
Especially just cause I am bloody 19 years old.

The problem is why do teens have to be ----Hanging Out--teens have no business ---"hanging out"--they should be home with friends if they want to hang out with friends and not on the streets somwhere.

Teens should never be out 10 at night on the street and if they are they do not have a decent home life and parents!

Try contacting local churches, I know our church keeps our youth busy. Last weekend they did the "Relay for Life". This weekend they will be hosting a banquet for "Mothers Day". This summer they have two different youth camps to attend. Good clean fun. Some are heading out to help with fire victims.

I believe that the problem here is that most of the smaller communities now a days are turning into retirement communities, which in the end leaves nothing for us teens to do. Where i live we have to drive atleast 30 min to get anywhere near someplace to have fu. And frankly i think its bull. everything we have in our town that is for teens only attracts a certian interest group. Like for instance the local skate park. I think tthat small towns need to have one big place where everyone can hang out, no matter what your interests are.
And jsut to let you know times have changed and hanging out in our basements is just going to lead to health issues (no activeness). Read into things before u make accusations.
