Do you not realize that the amount of money lost by a few kids going out of county is far less than the amount of money it would cost to keep those schools open? The bottom line is, regardless of your personal opinion, that closing these schools will save the county money. Lol so go ahead and take your kids elsewhere, it will prove nothing...

A few! There is already 16 enrolled at Duffield primary not to mention all the students from Keokee planning to attend wise county schools! Yes this will be a large amount of money they will be losing!

With the $260,000 shortfall that the board of supervisors left the school board with and the money saved by not operating the three schools the school board can afford to lose around 225 students to somewhere else. Enjoy your new schools and enjoy the drive to them twice everyday. Bye Bye

this is the stupidest thing on topix. No district will provide a bus to Lee County for your children. They MIGHT meet you at the county line. Also, each division has to have a non resident contract with each distrct and this contract states how many students from their home division in this case Lee can have attend an outside division such as Scott or Wise and them NOT have to pay tuition. If you think everyone from these three schools are going to be able to go to another division and NOT pay you are sorely mistaken. If you think they are going to provide a bus then you are not only delusional you are also STUPID.

students attending schools in different countys but the same state can get waivers for tuition, because the new school will get the federal and state funding that goes with each student. most who need the money will be more than happy to do it.

So you are going to go to a school district that needs the money and has allready shut schools down and has plans to close more in the next few years to get away from a district that is closing schools because it needs the money?
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this I just don't. Under stand the logic?

Why are people saying that these students will have to pay tuition? I have already spoken with the superintendent in one of these counties and he says no they will not have to pay, only if we live out of state! I guess some are scared about all the money that is going to another county.

A non christian charter school would be eligible for some state and federal funding. Or a non profit private school...

Daily Horoscope for May 17

Capricorn

You aren't in the mood for work today, which is a problem if you have to keep your nose to the grindstone. All the same, you'll do your best to ensure that even work is good fun, rather than one step up from slave labour, which may mean keeping your workmates amused and generally having a good laugh. Do your best to get all the important work out of the way to avoid getting ticked off, and then relax by enjoying yourself at every opportunity.
