There should be cause for alarm . Some of "Lee Co. Schools" , will close ! Which ones ?? This is just the beginning. Politicians (Republican / Demo crates), are both lying to us . America is operating in her "Over Draft Protection Plan"., and it is to late. The Politicians have played their game to long, and now its un repair-able,.......This is just a small beginning , to what is ahead ! Read your Paper !!

I hate to hear this. We all know the first to close will be Stickleyville and Keokee, which is terrible. The kids from stickleyville will not have a very far commute but the kids from Keokee will have to be bused at extreme distance for children so young. I have spoken to a great number of people from Keokee and almost everyone says they will take their children to Appalachia. I have to say I can not blame them considering the distance will be much shorter. I know I would feel very disgusted with Mr Carter if he didn't want to save his own Alma Mater. I pray they will keep that little school open even if there is not a huge number of children attending they should not make them ride a bus such a long distance at such an early age.

I have a better idea! Close down Jonesville Middle. Demolish the building and everything there and make it a parking lot for scooters!!! That would wipe our Little Ole jhs for once and for all!! Just think of all the money the county could save!! No teacher to pay, no support staff, and most of all no sports to have to contend with!! THAT WOULD BE THE BEST PAYOFF!!! Yeah, close down ole jhs and save a life, it might be your childs! Bus them to the lower end, cause we don't want them anyway!!!

If ALL these teachers and administrators who could retire would retire the problem would be solved! They are working because of GREED! Nothing more! Why would you continue to work after 40 years! Ridiculous! It is time to give the younger teachers a chance.

Here is an ideal. Just make Elk Knob into a private school and rename it the Elk Knob Academy. The parents there think they are so elite anyways. Let them pay tuition, that would make the school board some money.

Elite so funny there is no such thing in LEE County. Get rid of Stickleyville and Keokee they have to go there is no other way. We need to get rid of Ewing or Rose Hill its time one has to go should have already been gone. This county is officially the lowest income county in the state. You know we have no choice but to make these decisions. I hate to see these schools close but our kids must have a education and we as a county will not afford it. We must do something to make the budget work we dont just pay teachers we pay county workers also.

There is not anywhere to send Keokee students. The roads are not ideal in either direction. If you close a school, what would you do with the building? Minor details which I'm sure someone will sit down and figure out fully before acting.

That is only going to cost us more money . Lee co is never going any where in football because they waited to late. A Quality Coach cost Money. They played Politics and hired their friends. Now the State is cutting back funding and we are done for. We don't play quality schools , and never will because of the politics. Now the Government is going broke , and it will be interesting to see them try to hang on to something that has no cash value. You that a such fans , go teach or coach without pay. the classroom are definitely not full at keokee. last year they only had 3 kids in the 7th grade and just a few more in the 6th. they combined the classes and still did not have 20 kids beween them so yeah they are no where near being full. people are already sending their kids out to dryden so why not continue doing so? my kids went to keokee and loved it but there just isn't enough to keep the school open. when you only need one bus and it is almost empty then it is time to let go!
