Health Officials Unsure If H1N1 To Blame For Vacaville Girl's Death

It really does not matter if h1n1 caused her death, but more that she had the virus and exposed others to the same. Now a second child in the same class has also been diagnosed with the virus. So my question is this....how many more children need to get sick with this virus before the school does something to keep our kids safe. Right now the school acts like it is denial. All I ask is that they PROTECT our kids and I don't think it is an unreasonable request.

Apparently, according to the teacher of the student who died, the classroom has NOT been cleaned, so students are at risk.

this was directly out of the mouth of the teacher in the affected classroom, so I would say the BS is from the administration. Another girl in that classroom was affected Monday and the parents of the children in that class have pulled their children from school. There were only 3/4 students today.
So that was not some diciculous statement it is a statement of fact from the teacher in that classroon.

It was H1N1, I am Alexis' her aunt. It was confirmed by CDC yesterday, for some reason they are not releasing it to the public. It is ridiculous. Another of her classmates, possibly the one your are referring to above, is in ICU. Please, if your children or anyones you know attend the school please do not allow them to bring their children in. It is maddening that neither the school, the hospital or the CDC has released her cause of death. It was made official to our family yesterday.

So sorry for your loss. I believe that the school was irresponsible in protecting the children and it saddens me that another student is suffering and we hope that she will recover. How many other students are in harms way because of the way the authorities dragged their feet. No everyone has to watch their kids for symptoms and hopefully they will be caught before it becoms fatal.

How sad those in charge of our children did not do what was necessary to protect them.

Wow--I am so sorry for the loss of your niece. I really appreciate this info and am sharing it with everyone I know. It takes a village...i am praying BIGTIME for your family and the little girl who is sick now. thank you thank you thank you

I too want to say I am sorry for your loss and also to thank you for speaking out on behalf of the family. It is nice to get news from the 'source'.

Pat I don't know who you are, but you are NOT Alexis Aunt. Where have you been while the family has been mourning the loss of my daughter. I ask that all parents watch over their kids very carefully and if you feel that there is something wrong with your child have them seen right away. Alexis is confirmed to have the H1N1 virus, but it has not been confirmed as the cause of death. I don't believe this was the cause since my daughter didn't have any of the symtoms (diarrea, high tempature, cough,). The Brown's Valley school has acted appropriately with the information they had. They didn't know my little girl had the H1N1 virus until Thursday. Soon after I found out.

Please stop acting like you are part of my family when you are not. Giving false information doesn't make the situation any better nor does it help any worried parents.

Im in BV, Vacaville 40 yrs. Dont know how to change location.

i think its important to confirm if H1N1 did play a role in the death. It is my understanding that H1N1 looks like common flu and that according to the CDC action should be taken for certain symptoms for any type of flu. The symptoms all seem to be around difficulty in breathing, a lung infection of some type. These are all symptoms that can come about for any kind of flu.
I've also been told by our family doctor that the ability to identify the strand of flu is not 100% accurate.
I fear for my kids safety as well but it is parents responsibility as well to keep their kids out of school if they are ill. CDC recommends that they stay out of school 24 hours after fever has ceased.
It needs to be confirmed if H1N1 was the direct contributor to this tragedy or a side effect that came from not treating or reacting to flu symptoms regardless of which strand.

My sympathies to the family.
