Why is the article mostly about Dipaolo and his wife and not the person that is charged? He wasnt selling them, nor his wife. The article states that they are being "selective" of thier bust. Does that mean only people of polictal status will have thier houses busted? If that is the case, I wonder if the FBI will investigate who else the defendant, Sharon orgainized parties for???
Hint to Mr. Palatella - do you really think the judge would return your call knowing how you like to through people under the bus?
Hint to FBI - Please - something more important. We wonder why people get away with murder and rape. Your too busy looking at the quality of purses.

Bags fake; charges real
A unique group of party crashers broke up a gathering at an Erie district judge's house in May 2007 -- the FBI arrived to investigate the sale of counterfeit purses.

No wonder this country is in the shape it is. Soaring prices on gas, a war that is bankrupting us and the threat of terrorism. Our most elite law enforcement agency is devoting it resources to busting vendors of nock off purses and sneakers. What do these sales(purses and sneakers) really hurt? The agrument is made there are violations of patent rights and other regulations. It is another example of protecting the wealthy. What does it hurt that a few women have purses and some kids are wearing fake sneakers?

hmmmmmmmmm the f.b.i need to look at seriou crimes. here one for you guys. when a citizen does a low profile crime like this crime sell mark down purses. it a crime against a corperation but it is okay for a corperation to deal with a country that is killing our military like G E TRADING WITH IRAN which crime worst so why is G E president not being charge with a crime

You people are idiots. There is plenty of evidence that organized crime and terrorist organizations are using the marketing of counterfeit goods to funds their activities. Although the FBI is a very overrated law enforcement agency that is clearly impotent in almost all respects their focus is supposed to be anti-terrorism and in this case they are doing what they are supposed to do. As for the "judge", he has alot of gall. He frequently tells people ignorance of the law is no excuse but obviously he is too stupid to recognize he aided this woman in breaking the law.

why is the FBI not going after anyone in china town (in NYC) where they sell out their rented spaces? The last time I was there, they were selling bags across from the Gucci store! Really?!

This woman was warned and continued to sell these purses. Shame on her. Drug dealers don't get warnings and nor do drunk drivers. Children in China are being used to make these purses, so we can look good. Shame on us.

I purchased one of these bags. But don't worry. I paid with fake money.

One commentator opined that these knock-off goods are produced by Chinese children. According to a good friend who has been living in China for the past two years that's hardly possible. China is no longer a backwater, third world country with no labor or school attendance laws where children spend their days in sweatshops instead of schools. The comment is typically American ignorant of the "outside world."
China produces an amazing array of knockoffs from books, clothing, and machines, to Canadian Ice Wine (really!). Does anyone seriously think it can be stopped by devoting FBI resources to a housewife who sells knockoff purses (as knockoff purses!) at 100th of the price of an artificially priced "authentic" brand name? Gimmie a break. These items are not sold as authentic brand names. Everyone knows that! Moreover, the big money guys who own the patents on the real stuff lose NOTHING. Those who buy these knock-offs either wouldn't or more likely couldn't afford to buy the authentic item. This is a problem for diplomats, not F.B.I. agents. F.B.I., go do something worthwhile. Go nab some purse SNATCHERS, not purse sellers. |

it is laughable that DiPaolo states that his wife didn't know. when you are having a party to sell name brand purses for $25 bucks and don't see a red flag, it's my guess you still believe in the tooth fairy too. the jewelry, sunglasses and wallets that he spoke of are also part of these KNOCK OFF parties

isn't it funny that they've been sold in New York on curbside stands for years and nobody cares...isn't that Hillary's state?

Hey, which Dapolooka relative wrote this apologia. My brother-in-law was in his courtroom and was treated like dogshit, even though he is mentally slow - told him he didn't need a lawyer, just plead guilty!!!! What a fair guy - now the pigeons have come home to roost. Hope they crap all over this guy. |
