As the father of a 16 month old, I can imagine the grief this family is going through right now. My thoughts and prayers go to this family for this tragic loss. :(

I think that the photo on the front page is very disturbing and I don't believe that the family of Addison needs to see that. You need to be more considerate to the family who just lost their daughter.

"where homes sell in the $200,000 range"
What does this have to do with the dog attack?
What a sad commentary on Erie when the newspaper reporter thinks $200K's an expensive house and feels the need to mention it in a story about a dog eating a baby.

"she saw a dog covered in blood running toward her"
Was it the SAME dog? This reporter's unbelievably incompetent!

"He said,'Don't come out. There's a dog on the porch,'"
The reporter forgot to say, "So the woman stayed inside her $200,000 house."

I am very disturbed that the Erie Times News decided to print a picture of the dog with the article. Not only is it graphic and obscene (because he's covered in blood of a dead child), but also because the dog doesn't even appear to be aggressive in that picture. To think they couldn't capture it and euthanize it humanely is an outrage. I also think it was unnecessary to mention the cost of homes in the neighborhood where the dog was slain. Are they trying to say that even something as horrible as this happens in upscale neighborhoods too? If this same thing happened in a lower priced neighborhood, would they have said, "Where homes sell in the $90,000 range..." ? It's just ridiculous.

i think it's incredibly insensitive to show the photo of the bloody dog, especially on the cover of the newspaper. it's just disgusting. please have a little more compassion. you dont' need to show that photo to tell that story. usually when the news shows something like this they worn you ahead of time. i think the times-news is being irresponsible.

You are correct that they didn't need to mention the price of the homes, but apparently you missed the part about it still acting aggressively when they attempted to place a noose on the dog. I'd much rather have it shot, taking no chances that it would get away and attack someone else. You claim it doesn't appear to be aggressive? Its a STILL photo! Did the poor little girl die humanely, I think not! That animal needed to be taken out immediately. What a tragedy. I can't imagine the pain that this family is in right now. And with that in mind, I question the Erie Times News for publishing the picture on it's front page of the dog in it's bloodied state, It would seem to me to be in very poor taste. If this happened to one of your loved ones would you want this type of photo plastered on the front page?
My prayers go out to the family of that little girl.

I heard of this tragic story last night, and my heart goes out to the family that must life with the trauma of this event. This morning I look at the Erie times and find that they have the intellect to print a photo of a dog covered in blood on the front step. If that doesn’t enrage me enough it is also on the web page. I can only imagine how the family of this little girl feels after seeing these images posted around. I am glad to see that other s are feeling the same way, and only hope that the Erie times has the backbone to print anther cover tomorrow with an apology to this distraught family. I am simply sick over this article, and I hope action is taken.

No matter how much we may not like the photo or reporting, the fact is there is a grieving family. We need to keep this family in our thoughts and prayers. This is a horrifying tragedy for all involved. The family, the dog, the police officers, and the community members who had to witness it. God bless them in this difficult time.

If you got a job and moved out of your parents basement you would find out a $200,000 is at the upper price range of homes in the Erie area. In the past 12 months, 94.6 percent of homes in the Erie area have sold for under $200,000. Stick to the comics or does Li'l Abner hit a little too close to home?

GUYS....Everyone. PLease let's use this chance to tell a mother that we are so sorry for her loss and that words cannot comfort her, but we hope that she takes comfort in knowing that her community cares and is willing to help and pray for her. Seriously what is worse the stupid comments a reporter said or the fact that we are all fighting over over that instead of saying what we all feel...To the Mom and Dad I cannot express enough how sorry I am.

Even though it killed their little girl, even THEY probably didn't wish it to come down to brutally being shot in public.
