I personally love Cliff and his wife, Barbara. This is a well deserved award. He has done lots for the community, is very modest about it, and tells a mean joke!

Cliff cut my hair when I was a little boy. He always made me feel like a little man. I used to play with there kids and help load hay. Miss Barbara always had tea or lemonade for all of us that help out and then great snacks. We had more fun at her house. It was great growing up in Alamogordo with people like this as mentors.

I know my post started with Cliff, but they are inseprable in my memory. Babara pretending she was mad when she caught us boys in the stock tank when it was a 105 degrees. Scolding us while getting us towels and lemonade and cookies. Then we would have to pick up trash from around the house. There never was any, I always suspected she did that and knew full well there was no trash. Such a beautiful yard. And yes I have much more current memories of her. Working with me at Cottonwood Festival over cooking and serving breakfest. Or grinding numbers and information into computers at the Chamber in hopes to bring one more employer to town. But my fondest memories will remain those hot summer days where I worked my butt off for $10 and cookies and lemonade (and a quick dip in the stock tank) lol.

Yes JJ, there is a good ski slope at Cloudcroft, also one a short way away at Ski Apache.
No, nowhere near Hatch.

Such good people. I was amazed that these two people from ranching families BOTH became vegetarian when Clif had a heart attack. Barbara's love for Clif motivated her to do all she could to prolong his life and improve the quality of his life. Talk about love, that's it.
Congrats, Barbara.
