As a mom of a child that went over a fence and had to have head surgery because of it, I would strongly suggest that the fences not be made taller. Children are quite happy to try going over them. Additional supervision and better communication are the best options.

Yawn. No one was hurt. Move along. Accidents happen but I am sure some low-life will sue.

One parent says, "they were a little worried, but it was an accident", another says "it could have happened anywhere". Don't these parents care about their kids? If my three year old was out wandering about lost for 45 minutes, I would be plenty worried and ANGRY too. And the daycare's working on a "solution". This doesn't happen at my kids school; their "solution" is a sturdy lock and chain so that the gate doesn't open.

Calling this an "accident" is an excuse. If there had been a little thing called SUPERVISION it would not have happened. I appreciate the fact that they felt the need to be honest however the fact remains that they let two little ones off the property when they were supposedly being "watched". I would like to know why they didn't think of making the gates higher and adding safety locks to begin with? What would they have done if one the children got hurt or injured? I doubt it would have been labeled as an "accident" and I don't think they would have gotten away with it so easily. As a parent who has had a child in daycare (and pulled him out for similar "lack of supervision" reasons) I would also be very angry and would certainly not entrust the care of my child to these people.

Hey at least they were honest and upfront about this. In this day and age most everybody would blame someone or something else. Accepting responsibility is a rare thing nowadays.

The obvious solution is to equip the kids with Mayoral Contribution kits, so they can collect money for Marty while on their neighborhood adventures. This is, after all, a City-funded facility. Why should these kids be exempt from working for the Mayor like city employees?

I agree that this is serious. More supervision is needed and better security devices on gates. What if the children had attempted to cross the street?

I am glad to hear that the Daycare took total responsibility. Let's just wait and see for better security. I am a mother of a 4 year old daughter that attends Daycare and I do trust and appreciate the staff for their hard work, taking care of children is a hard job! I know children this age can do anything and everything. I am just thankful they were ok and nothing happened.

How on earth is this place still licensed and in business, and the director and the individuals directly responsible for these kids' care still employed??!! Unbelievable.

The best way to avoid this type of incident is for those supervising to keep their feet and eyes moving. Don't stand in one place but move around and keep those eyes moving all the time.

As a parent I would have been irrate at the school for this! You put your children in a program you feel is safe for your children and this happens? I guarentee if that were my child, I would be looking for another program to put my kids in.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Pisces

You're capable of making some very constructive and important decisions today, particularly where your relations with certain people are concerned. If you're fed up with the way someone has been treating you, you might now decide that the worm is about to turn and you're going to be much firmer about what you're prepared to put up with and what you won't tolerate.
