As a senior citizen living in the county of Bernalillo, I want to know that I can count on someone to help us out in time of need. I know Joe M. Chavez personally, he is a man of his word. He has never let us down and he is also a veteran and has taken time out to listen to my husband and our needs for a safer community. Joe has our vote.

Joe M. Chavez has recently announced his run for BCSO Sheriff. Joe has served his country and community as a staff sergeant and police officer. He brings 27+ years in both these areas. Joe is hard working and honest. He truly CARES about the people of Bernalillo County! Joe is the underdog and surely has my vote. He is the breath of fresh air we need in the department.
Funny how these candidates don't think they need experience to run! Go back and get promoted to Deputy Chief and then talk to us sergeant!

Honesty and Integrity ? Conrad Candelaria is violating the Hatch Act which is Abq city law ! The city attorney has already informed another Sheriff candidate Sylvester Stanley that he was violating the Hatch Act so with integrity he suspended his campaigning. The city attorney has informed Conrad and he is still actively campaigning ! Hatch Act says you cannot actively campaign for political office while employed by the City government. Reference on page 19 http://www.google.com/url...
Sadly, this is all too common in Bernalillo County. I remember witnessing MANY times the late Pete Ross (former LEO and Bernalillo County Assistant District Attorney) passing out campaign bumper stickers in Metro Court courtrooms for his failed campaign as Violencia (deliberately misspelled) County District Attorney. That is, when he wasn't blowing on his harmonica from his wheelchair playing "Boatmen of the Volga", making fun of Black and Hispanic inmates shackled together and referring to them as "Monkeys on a Chain". That's the kind of mentality very prevalent in Albuquerque and in Bernalillo County on the part of politicians and "Officers of the Court". It is pathetic. They are often not much better, and sometimes MUCH WORSE, than many of the people they arrest and convict.

Keep your eye on a wildcard like Joe Bowdich. Last, he was filling some Peter Principle-type
manufactured job as a reward for keeping quiet on the Evidence Room looting and other things he was supposed to investigate. He might be appointed interim Sheriff until election time. I would rather have Captain Marie Sissi Miranda. She will bring uncompromising integrity, honesty, and worth-ethic along with her. She has already proved her "courage under fire" by standing up to the corrupt upper ranks at Albuquerque P.D. during the Evidence Room looting/SNAFU.

There is only one person who should fill the sheriff's position and that is Marie Maranda. She is an honest upstanding individual who has been an asset to her community. She is the only qualified person (retired captain, master's degree, workes well with the poor, unrepresented-souls) believes in programs to help individuals get back on track. She is the only person who should get Bernalillo's vote.

Someone needs to tell Conrad Candelaria that his votes for himself don't count!!!! If you really want to know what APD OFFICERS think of him then pull up the Eye in Albuquerque!!! Conrad is and was a lazy, insecure, ego-driven individual who will stop at NOTHING to be Sheriff or Chief of police. Conrad has more baggage than Samsonite!! He is a lying womanizer and does not deserve to be a commander much less a chief!!!!!!!!!

I WENT TO THE ACADEMY WITH CANDELARIA AND WATCHED HIS CAREER. I KNOW A GREAT DEAL ABOUT HIM. OBVIOUSLY YOU DON'T. IF YOU REALLY KNEW CONRAD YOU WOULD NEVER INDORSE HIM. HE NEEDS TO RETIRE-PERMANENTLY!

Yes she worked really hard to expose all the corruption and inappropriate relations by upper level staff! She blew the lid right off it and was almost fired! Good for Chief Schultz who came in and put her back to work and rewarded her with the Homeland Security slot!!!

I am shocked that Candelaria is even in the running with all that he has in his past! How dare Conrad attact Col. Thevenet in this manner! Col. Thevenet was simply telling the truth as to why Conrad was given a General Discharge. Look at the facts, why would you go through basic training knowing that you were too old to continue onto officer candidate school? It doesn't make sense and neither does Conrad. OK, lets move onto the shredding of the citations given to Marty Chavez. Conrad did do that and has made no excuses about his criminal behavior!! We can't stop now. How about the latest.....He has been seen engaging in a not so subtle affair while leaving behind his wife of 20 years! NO HE IS NOT SHERIFF MATERIAL, OR COMMANDER MATERIAL FOR THAT MATTER!

I think that Candelaria should be fired by the Commission, his candidacy has exposed so much bad stuff about him.

And that Miranda should get the job.

Why NOT give this outstanding woman a chance?

Is tomorrow the day the Commission meets and decides?

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Capricorn

Someone is in a finger-wagging mood and unfortunately they seem to be concentrating on you! Maybe they think you've fallen from grace for some reason, or perhaps you're simply the only person who happens to be around when they feel like letting off steam. Do your best not to fall into an equally critical and disgruntled mood, because it will soon make you feel wretched.
