A Vestavia Hills shopping center has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Vestavia Hills and five city officials as a result of the city's denial of a business license earlier this year to the Downtown Jimmie Hale Mission, which had planned to lease space in that retail center for a thrift store.

Not being mean and nasty but those "thrift stores" are not the best tennents to have because of the type of people they tend to attract both the customers and employees. The rear of the stores turn into a rat hole of junk and I sure wouldn't want to be next to one. Let them find a building in the neighborhood they serve. The stores I have been in don't know the items like soap,water,and windex.Also many Goodwill,Rescue Mission, And Salvation Army stores have beggars hanging around panhandling money. You drive up and they come running. The city council was right.
