We have a modest home in a quiet neighborhood. We paint, repair where needed, pay taxes, bla, bla, bla.

It seems that once a 'violation' is seen he does a total inspection of a property. Once a problem is corrected he attackes something else he feels is an 'eyesore'.

It just seems that he should be consentrating on areas that have JUNK and trash piled up.

Right on time....He was parked in front of my home at 9:15 am. This is almost a daily event. If he were a Citizen, I would have him arrested for stalking. However he belongs to the City and I can not do anything about him.

I do not want to take anything away from the terrible news here in Harrisonville I just wanted to speak. Thank You

My family and I moved to Harrisonville less than a year ago. Our house and garage are freshly painted and neat. The grass is kept cut, and we do not have any junk or old vehicles. So... for a lack of anything better, we received an elaborate letter informing us that we were in violation for leaving the trash container at the curb overnight. It explained in detail when exactly it was to be put out, picked up, and where to store it the remaining 23.75 hrs of each day. For the most part, the citizens and merchants in town are very friendly and helpful, but the city officials we have encountered are sorely lacking in their people skills and need to take a hard look at a few of their policies.

wasn't the btk killer a code enforcer also? control freak...we all know people like that. you have the eyesore of the dumpy trailer park..that is eye pollution to me...and then the nit-picking about trash cans? i like the idea of phoning in the complaints. we could all go hog wild with that. someone has a picky picky neighbor with too much times on their hands.

Regarding Mr. Codes Enforcer - What I hate is the fact that we received "The Letter" regarding a swimming pool for my daughter. This pool is one of the $25 blow up pools 'sold daily at wal-mart' and I've seen them all around town on a daily basis during the summer months. For whatever reason, my pool was singled out to either be 'removed' or 'install a 4 foot fence with a self-locking gate' or risk being summoned to court! Hello Mr. Codes Enforcer...why wasn't my neighbor (6 homes down the road) with the exact same pool also given "The Letter"? Or how about the neighbor on the next street over who owns the exact same pool?(YES, I talked with my neighbors & NO, they didn't get letters) Let's not even talk about the 4' deep pools I've seen around town without 4' fences & self-locking gates.

Here's hoping I'm not bringing more problems my way, and Thanks to all who 'listened' to me blow off steam. LOL :-)

I guess I don't understand why you would multiply mistrust by publishing personal opinions that may or may not be true instead of doing something about it- contacting the head of codes, the city administrator or even better your alderman. Go to a city council meeting and speak to the board. Chances are you aren't the only ones with this problem and others would appreciate you speaking up on their behalf. I can say that I personally appreciate codes and the codes enforcement officer in my neighborhood. My property and it's value is important to me and If I despised codes that much I'd move into the county!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Aquarius

Be careful now, because you could easily give someone the wrong impression and not even know that you're doing it. This is most likely to happen if you're trying to pussy-foot around them or avoid offending them, because that's when things could get lost in translation. You also have a tendency to sit on the fence now, which could make you seem slightly untrustworthy or shifty if you aren't careful.
