How remarkable that no one can comment on this editorial. When it comes to this subject, all the Green Beans have nothing to suggest!

except that giving free Fossile fule to attract people to VT is an option in a state that cant even get its brain around wind powered energy!

We can't put up windmills because they are an eyesore. Many Vermont residents prefer to have the land look the same, and have no one build anything, than have alternative energy resources. You can't build any hydroelectric dams because of the fish; you can't do solar because of the eyesore and decreased sunlight, and don't even mention nuclear energy. Most Vermonters are too busy working to get involved and be heard, so it is the vocal ones that are running the state, and they are the tree-huggers. They are all proud of themselves for having town meetings to pass a resolution condemning the war in Iraq, but they tabled a discussion on Megan's law to protect children from child molesters.

That is Vermont in a nutshell.

in order for vermont to move forward we need to establish why we are the green state and thus move towards alternative energy to stay a green state. we as folks, polititians, townclerks, local officials need to look beyond what has been and what is to be. that being global warming and the affects on our state. we need wind energy, we need solar energy, we need hybrid cars and trucks, we need to bike, we need public transportation that is affordable for all, we need everyone to wake up and notice we are in a crisis. our crisis is energy and making it clean an affordable for all. we need alternative steps to save our state and our country. all vermonters please acknowledge and move ahead.

Tell that to the person who can barely afford to live in their house due to rising property taxes each year. Or the person who can't find a job paying more than $10 an hour.....they could give a sh*t about alternative energy.

LOL! Love it! You are so right on the money! It's true. We are at the point right now where we are to busy trying to make ends meet that some of us are working our buts off to pay our expenses while the "newbies" come to our state and sit and decide what should be changed because they have nothing better to do with their time then muck up this state!
A teenage child without expenses can go to McDonalds and make just as much money as a mother with children trying to raise that child and other children, pay her taxes and other expenses on the measly wages in this state! I think we should be able to go out and make a liveable wage and not be belittled into earning the same as a 16 year old...then maybe you would not see so many people on the state assistance programs!

Too true...Vermont needs to take steps to bring better jobs into the state. I grew up in Vermont and really love the state, unfortunately there isn't much of an industry in Vermont for me to work in. Only when we keep our skilled workers in decent jobs will the rest be possible to fall into place.

Tell me about it. I moved out of Vermont in the '70's because beyond working on the dock at St. Johnsbury Trucking (long defunct), there wasn't much of a way to earn a good wage and have a life at the same time. To make matters worse, over the years I've watched the greens and flatlanders take over and turn Vermont into an alien wasteland.
