Absolutely unbelievable! How the hell did they walk without any jail time? It is truly hard to have faith in our justice system after reading crap like this.

Immediately after the accident there were two crimes. One was a kid who drove off frantically. The other was committed by the parents. To me, the latter is worse. I can almost imagine the fright and horrifying anxiety of having struck a pedistrian. I'd like to think I could make a better judgment than he did but I've not been in that position. However, the actions of the parents are (to me) unforgivable. They had the luxury of not being stuck in that moment of horror, and instead they carefully calculated their evasion of resposibility. Ick, I hate even thinking that parents of one child could be so callous to the parents of another, let along to the rule of law and every moral and ethical fibre they should have.

So why this silly slap on the wrist for them?

"Money is no object" to protect their son, after he killed someone. Well, Mr. and Mrs. Alvino - let us all hope that money is really no object to you - although you received a light sentence, no doubt in part to you paying a HUGE fee to your attorneys - I, for one, am hoping that as a result of your selfish actions that you are sued in civil courts to the point that you don't have a dime in your pocket. Then, justice would be served. No wonder your son ran as a coward - look at the example he had. Guess what - this is not the day of the Kennedeys - wealth, power and prestige cannot fix any problem. If you make a bad desicion, admit it, take your medicine and learn from the lesson. The only good that might come from this is that others will learn from your mistakes -

The Alvino's have to pay $4,330?! That's chump change to them! I am absolutely disgusted by the pleas that the Alvino's (son and parents) have made. I'm ever more disgusted that the courts have allowed them to escape with essentially no punishment. I don't know a single person who would find this acceptable. It was absolutely awful that Carlee Wines was struck & killed, but the actions of Anthony Alvino and his parents after the incident are even worse! From a moral level, I am shocked that parents would cover up such a horrible tragedy and, furthermore, put other teenagers in a position like they did to Donahue and Muccioli. Shame on them! I think it's a poor example to others out there that people can hide a crime, cross state lines, and, in the end, pay a fine of less than $5,000.

Disgusting! First they raise a no-good cowardly loser of a son, then they aid and abet him in avoiding responsibility for his crime. It makes me sick that Carlee might have lived if they had stayed and gotten her immediate help.

Said before, will keep saying it: Vote out all the liberals - judges, representatives, senators, (and God-forbid, the next president). They are hell bent to ruin the social fabric of this country.

These people are despicable. I echo the earlier sentiments in hoping they are taken to the cleaners in civil court.

And one wonders why no one has faith in the justice system anymore.

Maybe you're right about the CT justice system, but it was a court in NEW YORK that gave those immoral, classless scumballs the slap on the wrist. To me, they are more guilty than the son and should have done some jail time.

Is it JUST the New York prosecutor who is 'on the take', or does someone in Connecticut have a hand in it, as well??

What a travesty.
