Myrtle Beach is becoming more and more like a Military State, at the expense of all who have to live and work in the city. They have raised our taxes to get rid of one group of tourists, and will soon raise our taxes again to attract another. What group of people will the City of Myrtle Beach decide run out of town next? And what price will we pay for that?

Yes I would vote for him or any Mayor who continues the no Bike Week policy. Property taxes are all ready lower than most places. Make no mistake. Real voters don't frequent this board. Mostly kids and those who probably never took the time to vote in their lives and still have opinions.

I believe mayor Rhodes decisions on bike week an other issues will hurt MB. I will lose more money in my business this year, than I will save on any property tax brake John Rhodes claims I will get. John Rhodes needs to hit the Road!

But businesses who employee PERMANENT people (as opposed to SS%B and Broken Spoke who employ people ont for bike week) Businesses like theaters, attractions, Golf Courses, on and on SUFFER EVERY year during bike week. And they employ far more locals permanently then a few bars and some out of town vendors.

Face it who ever replaces him won't get elected if they campaign to bring back bike weeks. There are far more residents and business owners who do NOT benefit from bike week than those who benefit from non biker tourism...

You and your friend "Get Real" still don't get the fact that people who ride "BIKERS" have families and friends, they golf, play softball, take their kids to school, vote ..etc, etc... You two really don't have a clue as to who or what a "BIKER" is or what they do... Stop watching TV and go out and meet some people that ride "Bikers".. You wouldn't be to happy if they started to close golf courses because "bikers" don't like them ... Would you? I think they should raise the greens fee to offset the lost revenue during bike week ...$250-300 around should be reasonable... People buy Harleys because they are willing to trade power for noise, safety for fashion, engineering for style and individuality for group comfort and belongingness. People buy Harleys because they have no lives and they need someone else to show them, step by step, exactly how to have a life (though not one of their very own) and to pretend that it is their very own. People buy Harleys because they don’t understand the history of the motorcycle or the true history of Harley Davidson. People buy Harley Davidsons because they feel that they are doing something good for their country when all they are really doing is rewarding failure, punishing success and voting with their hard earned dollars to remain in last place for decades to come if not forever. So much of Harley Davidson is not about being a rebel or an outlaw (as the image and marketing suggests) but rather about being a conformist to a particular corporation's opinions, views, and beliefs. When you buy a Harley Davidson you have to give up your own opinions, your own views and your own beliefs. By the very nature of being part of Harley Davidson you are conforming (not rebelling) to the standardized image that the company is packaging and selling. Harley riders are not individuals, they are conformists, they are adopters and followers, never leaders. Harley riders are religious zealots following in the pop culture wake of the laughable company that they continue to support. Their whole life revolves around an intricately spun redneck fairytale that is made of up nothing but make-believe and fantasy driven by styling over engineering, fashion over safety and sound over performance; in those regards Harley Davidson redefines the act of posing and those who own and ride Harley Davidsons are nothing more than posers pretending to be something that they are not. you adopt a standardized uniform and a standardized lifestyle then how can you be considered an individual if everyone around you is just like you, dresses just like you, rides exactly what you do and thinks just like you? Are we selling individualism over the counter now? Can you buy individualism out of a vending machine or a catalog now? Is individualism something that you can put in a box or subscribe to? The last time I checked you could not. But keep trying.

Boring!!! I've been riding for many years and my first bike was a Harley and I had that bike for 17 years.. Sold it a nice profit. Btw you just described through all of your BS. what is known as the TV biker.. That's what I said move away from the TV set you don't get it do you.. You as well as others talk all sorts of BS on these boards and don't have any sense to what your saying and you certainly don't have the nerve to say it to some ones face. Go on down to SBB if you like and tell them to shut off the music,, Don't think you have the nerve. Try giving the finger to a "Biker" at a stop light? So talk all you want on these boards your safe little boy at home. No one will get you there in you gated community..
