Suck it up; I would be sooooooo embarrassed if I were the cop that got scrapes and bruises and it was reported in the paper. I guess the city is faced with employees filing ridiculous workman's comp. claims too. Whatever happen to the days of real mean that would just shake it off and get back to work. The workforce now are a bunch of cry babies.....suck it up pal!!!!

Stereotyping any race is standardized ignorance of narrow-minded people who refuse to admit they are wrong and chose to categorize skin color with crime. Any differences in skin color, cultural traditions, or language are just a few things that bring out the insecurities of narrow-minded people. It's their problem not anyone else's. If they had God in their lives, they would realize they will be judged for their predjudices some day. Romans 2:1

My biggest peave is that there is no respect for road rules this weekend. I just drove home behind about 50 bikers and they flagrantly abused every rule of the road, speeding down the center lane, cutting 2 feet in front of a car, going 20 - 30 miles above the speed limit. Enough. I could care less if we catered to any biker events at all.

it's all about morals, black people are not taught the right type of morals, prime example, in Washington D.C. they voted their mayor back in after he was caught smoking crack and being with a prostitute????
And our white former state treasurer is about to go to the pen for a long time for doing blow in office. Our white former president lied under oath and did not get impeached. How about those morals?

Take off the blinders. There are plenty of bad seeds of all races. I've already seen some bad behavior and it's only Thursday. MBPD is a good bunch of people, let them do their job. Saying blanket statements like "black people are not taught good morals" is just plain ridiculous. You're making South Carolinians look bad.

Selfish, ungrateful person. You should be thanking the officers for doing the job that they do. And what makes you imply that the officers are not back at work right now? They probably got home late, slept a little, and got right back up to do it all over again. Until YOU are willing to do the job that they do (for the ridiculously low pay that they get), please do us all a favor and keep your sarcastic comments to yourself. Thanks!!

I (in case you didn't assume it) am black. I AM offended when I go to a family oriented restaurant and have to see black women come in wearing things that I reserve for my husband. I don't like being stuck in traffic and being able to count just how many pimples or dimples are in a woman's behind. I dislike being approached by men bearing video cameras who believe that because I'm black I must be "down" with being posted on some web site doing something that I would be ashamed if my family saw, besides the disrespect that is attached to the assumption that I'm some kind of slut or prostitute. I am embarassed to go into a store and see by fellow black people act wild and crazy, doing things they wouldn't do in the store that their mothers frequent. I fully believe that this is largely a age problem. My grandmother rode to bike rallies for forever; she quit going to the black rallies because she has never been the type to condone the behavior that she sees displayed.
Now, with all of that having been said, I also have a problem with the Harley riders. Not all of them follow the rules that are associated with safe biking. I hate being cut off by any biker, by the way. I also dislike to be made to feel as if I'm an outsider or servant in my own town. I don't understand why it's acceptable to have such loud bikes during their week. No, they don't spin tires unless it's in a designated parking lot, but they do love to roar their motors excessively.
I personally feel that it's a matter of respect from ANY vistor to us, the residents. I feel that if there is a lack of respect to be shown to us, we should definitely have a fine in place to deal with it. Ticket them as much as possible. If you have no home training, I don't want you in my home.

I am not thrilled with either event. There is not much respect for motorist, motor vehicle laws, etc. I did not want to see anyone on a Harley or a Japanese bike, stop in bumper to bumper traffic (near Colonial Mall) and jump on a car and urinate on the windshield. This Japanese bike rider had no respect for himself, his half naked rider, the automobile that was lawfully traveling on US 17, or my 3 children. It is a respect issue. Bring respect and your money and have a safe time. If you can't, stay away. Your own mother would not even want you.

White on White, if it's supposed to be a weekend...why did they start arriving on Mon.? The unfortunate thing is, that we have to deal with them longer then planned. Their rally is supposed to start Fri.(tomorrow) and end Tues. And reading this article proves there is already trouble.
I have worked at hotels and the rates go up for everyone Memorial weekend. Of course the NAACP sees it as a whole race issue. Screw them!! As a tourist town we lose so much income due to this particular rally.
They keep returning to MB because the city allow the rally to go on. No they are not "welcome" here...because they are disrespectful.
So many feel their behavior has alot to do with their age. I partially agree. But many of these black people were never taught the word "RESPECT." I've worked with enough of them down here. At two hotels they would come into work drunk, and not do their work. Managers would just look the other way. Others would leave work and have their friends clock them out hrs. later. They stole tools, tvs....you name it from the hotels. At other place they were given a raise and worked less. They refused to get off their butts to clean the rooms for Harley week.
I had a manager tell me that they wanted to fire them...but were afraid.
So to me it's not just an age thing. It's the black folks crappy attitude that we "own" them. Respect us and our town and you will received respect in return.
I haven't seen any cops ticketing these speeding crotch rockets. Saw some doing 85-90 over the 544 bridge. Come on cops...you're out there getting the locals every day. Where the hell are you?
How true are you about 544, cops out there writing us tickets everyday and nothing being done with these bikers going way over the speed limit come on cops be fair make the county some big ,oey this week pay fro raods
