Officers injured in scuffle with biker

I worked @ a bike shop for 10 years we served both bike weeks i would have black men come in the shop and say they would never come back to the memorial weekend again but they were coming to harley week so that says something in itself naacp needs to ask guys like this why they won't come back. so it is a age thing black or white no racial issue there, naacp wants it to be a racial thing because they want to sue for free money and not get off the %#$ to work for it. NAACP get a job!!!!

RickyD, thank you for injecting some sense into this discussion. The average age of a Harley rider is 46 (Fortune Magazine, 2008). And people expect similar behavior out of kids aged 18-25.

Like it's been said before...this is not a RACE issue; it's 100% about RESPECT! Like TA_MB said, we could have thousands of white kids come down on the same bikes and have the same problems. If the bikers this week had as much respect as the bikers last week I don't think the locals would be as upset as they are. Just because this is a tourist spot doesn't mean you can come here and act like an a$$. People do LIVE here - they raise their families here and make a living. I personally don't want my children subjected to the awful disrespect that's displayed this weekend and therefore we have to hunker down in the house and stay as far away from 501 and the beach as possible. It's just not fair to the locals and unaware families that come here to vacation on Memorial Day.

Race Race Race, Cut me a break! If you didn't ride over in the Mayflower and keep to your own race then you are a product of the Melting Pot. What percentage of this country do you think is still full blooded anything? Dear NAACP, Please stop with the race thing. We are all Americans, deal with it, get over it, and move on. I might not think it's fair how I can't get a scholarship for school because I'm not a minority, but this is where we are at this point, I'm dealing with it, getting over it, and moving on. If the next President doesn't ixna all the programs that doesn't include all Americans, I'll be surprised it was allowed to go on any longer. We are all one country no matter what the color of our skin. Thats what makes us so GREAT, now get with the program. The MBPD have their hands full this week, with American Crotch Rocket Riders, wish them well.

night will fall over the town once agian, darkness on the blvd. Trash in the streets while the residents hide in there home. It like a old western movie when the bank robbing gang rolls into town, except in the movie the sheriff doesnt get sued by the naacp for puting the crooks in jail.

Black bikers have no worries about laws in Myrtle Beach. The mayor,the town council,the Chamber of Commerce, and especially the far left liberal Sun News condone any act or attitude the black bikers do or have in their most eager efforts to appease them. After all, who would dare to question the behavior of these wonderful citizens who come here and show no respect for anything moral or decent? They even ride their motorcycles on the sidewalks if they get in a line of traffic, and the police look the other way. And they want respect? Yes, and the NAACP demands it!

To white on white: I thought you said you don't attend either, but you sure think you know alot about harley week. I work at one of the upscale resorts here in town, and let me tell you that we do not raise our rates or anything else for either week. The harley riders are treated differently because they are not a bunch of filthy pigs like the others are. I have seen the atlantic beach festival goers standing in between two trash cans and throw chicken bones, blunt tobacco, beer bottles, condoms,and anything else they can on the ground. If a person acts like a savage he/she should be treated like a savage. Have you ever seen what the roads and parking lots, and our yards look like each morning during atlantic beach bike fest. It sure doesn't look that way during harley weeks. Just something to ponder on.

Boy I tell you nothing better then pulling up to a stop light and seeing the view from the drivers side of a butt and thong hiked up in the air right in front of me. You just can't pay for entertainment that good! NOT! DISGUSTING! You will not see 1 harley rider riding down OB or Hwy 17 with their butt in the air in a thong, I have never seen 1. I sit here in my office overlooking Ocean Blvd in NMB-every bike this week with a female rider that goes by has a nasty thong on! GROSS! If I want to see naked cheeks I will go to strip club

Who gives a flying !@#$ about age. I don't care if they are 15, when you come here, you respect the area. If you don't, then suffer the consequences. I'm tired of reading all these post's with people using age as an excuse to pardon their behavior. Ridiculous!

I don't think people are using it as an excuse or as a pardon. I think it is being offered as a reason for the behavior other than simply being black. I agree that age plays a part. For all the nonsense that happens now, it is nothing compared to the behavior that goes on during the high school senior weeks! Which helps prove the theory of age by the way, since most of the seniors that visit here are white and upper class. I would take either bike week over the crap that goes on during senior weeks any day!!

Did you miss the news article that gave the number of tickets handed out during Harley week. I believe it was several thousand. I'm pretty old and I've never seen a cop "make a mint"....ever.

That is too true... I work for a local golf resort, and I can't count how many resevations I have had to cancel because people don't want to be part of the madness that will ensue this weekend...

Everyone who bad mouths the police officers need to just be quiet. Unless you are one or have been one or going to become one, you cannot imagine what they go through each day or how they are treated by unlawful people. This is one of the most intense weekends Myrtle Beach has to endure and we should all be thankful for the police presence and the hard work they put into the 12+ hours daily. If you had to do it would you? Think about how many officers are killed or badly wounded in the line of duty. These folks are human beings just like you, but have to put themselves in danger to protect you. Would you do it for them? Like our soldiers, there's is a thankless job. Think about it.
