50 people on a porch? That's about 10,000 pounds or 5 tons. Why do you need an investigation. The laws of gravity were violated.

John, they need someone to sue. The idea that packing that many people on a porch being a very bad idea takes second stage. From what one story said, the house was loned out. I guess the homeowner won't make that mistake again. They probably will have to sell the house to take care of the lawyers.

shame on people for making rude and ignorant comments about such a tragic accident. In the victims' defense, the hosts had the building inspected by officials before the party and it was deemed safe for even more people than that...sometimes freak accidents happen and we should just be thankful no one was killed. all this rude talk of placing blame is stupid. God's blessings on everyone there, especially the bride and groom and those who were hurt.

s it legal for Judge Tracy Carroll to be married to Lt Billy Flurry who works for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office? LT Flurry has a number of officers who present there case in her courtroom for warrants, arrests, hearings, trials, etc. It's hard to believe that she is able to conduct impartial and independent hearings given that she's sleeping with law enforcement. This just doesn't seem right from an ethical point of view? Can anyone help Aiken? This explains why they use two different last names.

Any deck that has been built to code, should be able to withstand a (minimum) dead load of 40 pounds per square foot. So a deck that is, for example, 16'x30' should be able to carry 19,200 lbs. I imagine this deck was fairly large, and "gravity" shold not have caused a collapse. The problem is most decks are not biult to these minimum code standards. "Strongtie.com " has got some great info on deck safety.
