Myrtle Beach won't drop Web ad despite sandstorm

Myrtle Beach is The Beach. No bridges, tuneels and heavy traffic to get there. I highly recommend it.

Myrtle Beach is not full of the hip hop crowd with their constant profanity and pushing people around. That's enough in itself to justify driving 8 hours. A side benefit it's cheaper and the people much friendlier.

Myrtle Beach has miles and miles of beautiful beach and the policemen are actually very courteous and pleasant.  Myrtle Beach is a very welcoming place.  BuBBA is right that you don't have to worry about profanity from any ghetto wannabes.  You can walk or drive around MB at night. You find people out of the beach after dark just enjoying the weather and being on the beach.  You can find great little seafood places with fantastic fish, schrimp and scallops that don't gouge your wallet.  Some parts of MB have tourist traps but you can find whatever you are looking for in South Carolina.  North Carolina beaches are wonderful too. Look at what the city of VB is doing to Sandbridge.  They took a beautiful, remote part of the beach and have turned it into an overdeveloped mess.

Virginia Beach is now a Ghetto Beach and if you have to put up signs to tell the Blacks to stop the profanities, then yes it's time to go to MB. You didn't need those signs when VB was predominatley a white beach did you!

There is something seriously wrong with young blacks today.

VB is getting the ghetto from Brambleton Avenue and they come with their profanity.......family beach, indeed.

I came to VB once 25 years ago it sucked compared to other beaches on the east coast. I moved here 10 years ago and it still sucked. I went there on mohters day. It still sucked. I will get in my car and drive to NJ,MD, NC, SC and avoid my 20 minute drive to VB.

VB Sucks and always has. It's the only location on the East Coast where an investor can purchase property on the sands of a Beach, that's how bad it has sucked.

I would rather go to Ocean City, or one of the Jersey Beaches or drive 6 hours the other way, VA BCH doesn't do the business it is capable.

VB is Lilly white, there is NOTHING down there excpt putt putt golf, this weekend Hampton Roads and other East Coast Blacks are in MB spending Millions at Bike Week.

VB is Lilly white? Are you kidding me? Have you been from, say, 22nd street to 32nd Street lately? Have you heard the trash talk coming out of the mouths of the creeps at night? Yeah, there is putt-putt golf but that's not what is driving people away from VB. Maybe you are talking about above the 60th block but that is residential area up at the northern end.

10 Blocks of Beach!!!! Is that all to Virginia Beach. There are horse shoe courses that are longer than that. Virginia Beach is the pits there isn't anything worth going down there. You can't compare Virginia Beach to the mentioned beaches on the east coast. There is absolutely nothing of value to keep people coming back, the motels are pitful at best, there is but a few national brands of hotels but by in large they are dump hotels.
Name three things of recreation at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach.

it's more suited to be a residential community than a resort.
Go to New Jersery, Maryland or NC, or MB for big boy beaches. It's true there isn't much diversity in Virginia Beach.

I use to live in Va beach and moved for a better life, so tired of the trash that walks the streets of the beach with their droopy draws and profanity laced words. Myrtle Beach is wort the drive and prices are a whole lot cheeper.

So they've been doing it since '06, and Virginia Beach just noticed it? Shows how many people actually look for Virginia Beach vacations on Google. hehe

It's actually smart advertising. If somebody is not even thinking about Myrtle Beach, they may become intrigued. It would be like placing a billboard for South of the Border near the Hard Rock, or one for the Hard Rock near South of the Border. Which, didn't they do that along 95, but to lure people away from going to Disney, if even for a night or two?

Ghetto beach to say the least, I will head to MB this summer at least My family will be a little bit safer.

Is it legal for Judge Tracy Carroll to be married to Lt Billy Flurry who works for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office? LT Flurry has a number of officers who present there case in her courtroom for warrants, arrests, hearings, trials, etc. It's hard to believe that she is able to conduct impartial and independent hearings given that she's sleeping with law enforcement. This just doesn't seem right from an ethical point of view???

Virginia Beach is the only beach in the nation at this time that has signs that tell folks not to curse. Do you think it might be the trash that visits the beach that has been taught no respect while growing. I'm heading to MB more bang for the buck and much more family friendly.

Every time I see one of those stupid signs, I "drop a bomb" at it. If they didn't have the signs, I wouldn't even think of it, since there are so many other perfectlu useful words in the language at my disposal. I love reactionary local governments! They're funny.

Yes, it's legal. You can marry or form a civil union with just about anyone you choose, as long as they're over 18 and not married to anyone else. You aparently have some sort of gripe that has absolutely nothing to do with this topic or Myrtle Beach in general. Take your problem back to Aiken County where it belongs!

I has been over 25 years since I went to Myrtle Beach. It was a clean,friendly,reasonably priced and well worth the drive. Until family obligations and relocation prevented revisiting, I used to visit Myrtle Beach almost every summer. Virginia Beach is barely 25 minutes away, but you couldn't pay me enough to go back there. Crowded, noisy,ill-behaved patrons, ridiculous prices and ESL run businesses. Certainly not worth the aggrevation.
