This is rediculous, this city is held hostage during black bike week. If they want equality, they should act classier and not like trash when they come here. It has nothing to do with race either, white people need to act like responsible adults also.

The problem is that the two rallies arent the same....no matter what the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People wants to say. During Harley week, for example, the riders spend most of their time riding from one event to another...from SBB to Doghouse North, then on to Barefoot, or to Spokes, stopping at each venue for a few hours or staying there for the duration. Now, during Bikefest, there is nowhere for the riders to go, nor do they seem to want to have venues set up for them - so they just ride around all day and all night - its more of a see and be seen than the Harley rally - evidence is in the recent failed attempts to have scheduled events during bikefest - nobody showed up - the events are different, the riding style and durations are different, so the enforcement should be allowed to be different - My community does an outstanding job of dealing with these two very different events, and groups seeking to incite unrest by insinuating that only by their presence can there be justice - should find better use of their time.

I agree also, you know they are the ones that is racist we all are suppose to be equal but we are not the white people get crapped on all the time if we formed a national advancement for white people that would be racist whats wrong with this whole picture. i have freinds they are people they are not considered black or white. but the NAACP keeps a racist thing going.

If the NAACP is truly interested in social equality why do they permit, if not promote, reference to the Atlantic Beach Bikefest as "Black Bike Week". The signs, posters, and various other promotions using this incendiary and most divisive verbiage are found all over this town. Imagine the outrage if the Harley Rally was billed as White Bike Week.

I know with my uncle's business, he wanted to close last year for Memorial Day. To do so, he would have had to get a letter from the county, or city, saying he was doing maintenance on that day, and actually be there doing maintenance. He just wanted a day off, and I don't think he even realized it was BBW. This year, his wife is running it, she's thinking of closing this year too, just to have a day off. We've decided not to tell her, they should really pay attention to the news.
1 thing, they check hotel prices, at least they make sure they don't skyrocket for Memorial Day.

I am all for the city treating everyone equally. However, do the bikers from the two seperate bike weeks treat the City, the places of businesses and the citizens the same? Are one of the crowds more arrogant, rude, obscene, crass or obnoxious than the other crowd? It seems equal should go both ways. Why is the Memorial Bike week called "Black Biker Week?" If the Harley week was called "White Biker Week" that would be considered racist and there would be multiple lawsuits screaming discrimination and racism.

Well, it's actually called "memorial day weekend bikefest" or something like that?

A majority of the NAACP lawsuits of the past stemmed from businesses (hotels, etc.) charging more on Memorial Day weekend than other weekends. I always wondered why the town of Atlantic Beach wasn't included. They charge people just to enter the town limits on this weekend, but on every other day of the year you can go there for free. Isn't this hypocritical?

I don't understand why someone can't close their own personal business for the fear of being labeled a racist. If I wanted to close to for Memoral Day weekend to go out of town, I should be able to of my own free will.

I TOTALLY agree with all these comments.. Maybe if they respected the city .. they would get respect back. My husband works for the city and I hate to see this week come around. Last week they had no problems.. And this week instead of spending time with us on Monday he will be having to pick up chicken boxes, Colt 45, and other unsanatary things because there to lazy to put it in the trash..

The general gist of the responses are correct. The phony piece of crap NAACP should also concentrate on educating their constituency to behave like civilized human beings instead of slob pigs.

The NAACP will sue the gas stations this year because gas prices are higher during this week than they were last week. WATCH!!!!!

I think maybe we should use their hotline number listed in the article, 888-362-8683, to start lodging the complaints. I'm calling right now.

When I worked at a restaurant in Myrtle Beach during Harley week, I made great tips. When I worked during black bike week we had to have guards by the emergency exits because people kept trying to leave without paying. I sold over $1000.00 worth of food and only made $30.00 in tips. You tell me what the difference is NAACP!!!

The frustrating part of this whole event and story is nothing is going to change, no matter what we write. Black bikers will continue to use Myrtle Beach as their personal waste basket, they will continue to disrespect our town and challenge anyone who they think "dissed" them. If an incident occurs the "Rev." Al Sharpton will come out from under his rock to get on TV. There is and always will be only one person who benefits from racial divide, and that is Rev. Al. He gets the power and publicity from racial issues while the supposed black victims in his cause never get anything. He plays black people like a violin at the annual saps convention. Refer to a black as "colored" and you are either sued or assaulted. Yet they still refer to their organization as National Assc. for the Advancement of COLORED people. Yep, there are some real smart people running this group.

First... where did the trailer part come from??? And even if I did live in a trailer I wouldnt just throw stuff down on the floor .. Id get up in put it in the trash... Second.. my husband has a GREAT job but it be GREATER if he didnt have to pick up after lazy people. I must have hit a nerve... But your the only person taking up for them.. So im obv. right!

Let me see, you come to our town, trash it up, treat the citizens, business owners, waitstaff, and law enforcement like dirt, drive your crotch rockets like idiots, then you have the gall to DEMAND that we respect you. Sounds like your parents did a poor job of raising you, if not, you would know that respect is EARNED, not given out simply because you are here, and you demand it. One more thing - that race card that you keep playing is getting a little worn out, maybe you should play another one.

How about a national association for the advancement of white people! Oh but that would be racist
