Just saw a perfect example of why I won't be venturing out this weekend.....I work on Ocean Blvd and outside my office on the sidewalk was a young lady, skirt hiked up around her waist, bending over, grabbing her ankles, shaking what God gave her and men (I use that term loosely) video taping the entire time. Just disgusting! And, no, she wasn't wearing anything underneath.

It's a shame this weekend is pretty much a loss for Myrtle Beach. With what looks like a bad tourism season on the horizon, it tough to lose a long holiday weekend because of this worthless bikefest.

I'll be hunkered down at home or maybe out at the beach in the morning. I'll be sure to be home by noon and in for the rest of the day all weekend.

Is there any way to make this event go away permanently?

I am on vacation starting tomorrow. Although I live on a barrier island at the Jersey Shore, I would rather spend my Memorial Day in Myrtle Beach, but because of the many of comments over the years as to "locals" locking up and hunkering in for the Weekend.. its crazy.. They need to move this Atlantic Bike event to another weekend. As like the Jersey Shore, the start of summer is Memorial Day a time to relax at the beach to celebrate the start of summer with family and friends.

The calm before the storm.

Or maybe the eye. Like how there's wind and rain, then the eye, then even worse wind and rain.

I have lived here almost my entire life and I do not care for ANY of our bike weeks! Sure... our local leaders may say that it helps bring in money to our area! What about all of the thousands of people that are NOT going to visit this weekend and all of the locals who have to leave their homeonly to try and avoid all of the chaos that will ensue this weekend! The City of Myrtle Beach will not gain anything from this weekend! Money is not spent in restaraunts... well maybe fast food? Money is not spent in hotels... well maybe the Super 8? The list could go on and on! More tax dollars are SPENT for paying city workers to clean and local and Federal police to come and keep a watch! End this weekend... End ALL bike weeks!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest we as citizen take pictures of all we see this weekend and file a law suit against the NAACP for severe mental anquish when the weekend has come and gone. It can be a class action suit the Citizens of Horry County vs. NAACP. As for the weekend, everytime we see anything that is offensive we should all call the hotline with our complaints, after we have jammed up their phone lines all weekend and they do nothing about the offensiveness, well our law suit would be that much stronger wouldn't it. I have sent my kids away for the weekend, they won't return until Monday, what a shame I would have liked to have gone to the beach and have a proper start to the summer with my children.

No one seems to have any problems with an complete cretin like DMX performing? He was just arrested a few weeks ago on animal cruelty charges-he apparently is another Michael Vick type! Not to mention the usual drug charges (thats about as standard for a "rapper" as a gold chain). Interestingly when the police came to arrest him he barricaded himself in his bedroom like a little b$#tch! So much for his "street cred".....

Here is what I don't understand. Why does EVERY SINGLE and I am talking about EVERY SINGLE biker on the annoying mosquito sounding things go from 0-100mph off EVERY SINGLE red light. I love 2 things that happen often during this event. First is seeing a police car behind one that just went 0-100mph, and an ambulance and fire truck pulling up to one laying on the side of the road that just went 0-100mph. KEEP UP THE ACCIDENTS, GOOD ENTERTAINMENT!

As a veteran does anyone remember the actual holiday this is supposed to be? I would like to sue the NAACP for making me work during such an important holiday. Everyone has to work in this county because god forbid you dont.

LET'S MAKE IT NATIONAL NEWS!!!!!!!!
It is time we Take Back Our Town. We need to stop being such wimps and being intimidated by the thuggery of the NAACP.
I challenge all to TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEO of the atrocities this weekend. We can collaborate and get this documentation to our political representatives and to the national media. Pictures don't lie.
It is not about race, it is about respect.

This has to end. A beautiful weekend to honor our fallen, yet we have to lose it because of all the 0-100 mph,(between traffic lights), bikers. Atlantic Beach,is near or at bankruptcy, yet they can keep the communities around them hostage for a week or more. Our leadership does not have the courage to confront them because they are afraid the race card will be played. This has nothing to do with race!!!

We should all throw our money in and open a watermelon and orange soda stand. Once they figure out all the products are laced with poison it will already be too late.
People like you disgust me. Posting trash like that shows how absolutely ignorant you are. I hope you are one of the people who do stay home this weekend, as you shouldn't be allowed to interact with society!! That's three or four days that the rest of us won't have to be bothered by your crap.

Myrtle Beach is home for me, I currently reside in Alabama. Hopefully bikers from all over will go to the beach, respect themselves and my home and give the media nothing to report except the proceeds received during the week's event. There has been enough bad publicity; whether true or false. Have fun and remember that "It's not what you do but who you are that's most important. This year "Ride with Pride".

EVERYONE IS JUST JEALOUS. BBW IS EXACTLY WHAT A HARLEY RALLY WAS 25-30 YEARS AGO: A BUNCH OF IGNORANT KIDS THAT ONLY OWN A BIKE, NOT MUCH MONEY, SO THEY MAKE THEIR OWN ENTERTAINMENT.
IM JEALOUS TOO THOUGH, WHEN WE PULLED THOSE KINDS OF STUNTS WE GOT OUR ASSES BEATEN AND HAULED TO JAIL. WITH NO NAACP TO WHINE ABOUT US, AND TELL THE STRAIGHTS WE WERE JUST "misunderstood"

Danny,
you are 100% correct. however, if you drive thru the neighborhoods that these people live in, you will see that they trash their own cities..so why would they care if they trash ours? these dirtbags have no respect for anything and the naacp fully backs the actions of these people. if they truly wanted to advance their race, they should teach these bums responsiblity and respect, instead of teaching them to whine about unfair treatment. if you want to be treated with respect, you've got to treat others with respect.
Wow I've never been to MB and this is what I should expect when I get there. There is alot of racism in MB.I can really feel it. Regardless of how you feel, it may be safe to say MB is being disrespectful by using such words as "those people","thuggish ","black people".If I see whats being said is some what true then I wont be back. But you can't make everyone fit in to others shoes. I am willing to bet you there will be festival goers that will treat yours as theres. Will the headlines reflect that in next weeks paper? When I get settled in at the lodging I have reserved I will unload my HD and ride out like the mature responsible rider that I am. If other bikers act a fool then I will gladly pull over and let them go because I don't want to be associated with them. Not because of the color of their skin but for the mere reason that you dont have to act a fool to have a good time.

fuwmf...if you've never been here for Memorial Day weekend then you can't possibly have a clue as to what the locals are subjected to..so put a cork in it. plus, this is not an issue of race. never has been, never will be...at least not for me.
