Thanks to all the supporters and the animal lovers out there. I have several feral colonies that I have taken care of for many years and this is the first time I have experienced such a cruel act. The majority of the cats in question have been spayed or neutered and the ear was clipped to identify the ones that had already been fixed. It is a shame that so much time and effort was put forth in healping these animals and to have an ending result as death by anti-freeze. The Veterinarian told me that it is a very painful way for the animals to die. All I can say is I hope that there will be someone out there that will be willing to go that mile and help me get to the bottom of this cruelty.

JMJ wrote: Are there leash laws intheswamp? You bet but try calling HPD about dogs running the neighborhood. By the time they get there the dogs are gone and most of the time people allow them to run in the evenings. Several of the ones near me are Pit Bulls. I believe in personal responsibility I do not blame the animals but theowners should be stuck in a kennel for a week.

Robert Eggert wrote: <quoted text> FYI "in the swamp" I just recently picked up a stray cat and will have her fixed when she is of age. I put food out for them when I can. If you had some compassion...(ha ha) you COULD do the same. I live out in the country, feed the deer when possible, feed the birds etc. Get off your wallet and help the cats. I do and will continue to do the same! Once again what do you know about me and my compassion? Got an extra $1200 so I can catch and fix the ones around me I don't have that kind of money to spend on what is the result of irresponsible people.I am showing my concern by wading through the BS here to try and point out that there is a problem that needs fixed and feeding them once in a while doesn't solve it. I do not like to see animals suffer and believe me these cats do suffer because of people who think they are helping them. So does the wildlife they prey on. I have always had at least 1 and as many as 4 cats. I take very good care of mine but refuse to take care of everybody else's problems. So just what is YOUR solution to the feral cat problem how many do you want to pay for?

I have a stray that wandered up. He's still a little skittish, but we're working with him and he'll be going to the vet soon. His ear has been clipped and he appears to be neutered. This may be a pet, gone feral, and back to pet again. I didn't know the clipped ear thing. Thanks for the info CAT LADY!

Good luck with your cat. I also have feral cats at home and most of them are rescue kittens near death. I have spent many hours staying up at knight bottle feeding and bonding with them. I have read all these posts. The one that really ticks me off is the ones written by "in the swamp" from Conway. I feed feral cats also and they do not bother the hummingbirds or bird feeders in my yards. GET MY DRIFT???? Or are you too busy whining and complaining about everything? Please, there must be a compassionate bone in your body somewhere? CHERYL--Georgetown, South Carolina (I don't know why it states I am from N.C.)

Trap-Neuter-Return of feral cats is the solution. Thank you, Trish Morris, for caring for these cats -- and my heart goes out to you for their terrible deaths. I hope the perpetrator is found.
BTW -- for those out there who say that cats kill birds-- well.....
1) here's one example of a sadistic human killing birds and 2) overdevelopment of forested land - cutting down the trees and paving over what was once bird and wildlife habitat kills MANY MANY birds
3- Lawn chemicals kill 7 MILLION birds a year
4-Collisions with windows and car windshields kill ONE HUNDRED MILLION birds every year.
I've been involved with TNR for more than 15 years. It works. It is humane -- the cats are cared for and -- for those doubters who say "How are you going to Re-trap them to re-vaccinate them?" -- JUST get them Used To Eating In the (doors tied open) traps!!!
Alley Cat Allies and many other TNR groups all over the nation are a good source of more information on Trap Neuter Return (TNR)

I don't understand why The **** were put there -- but the word in question means: "destroy" -- or -- "To meet one's demise"

I have been told by people that know about cats that if they are a pet and turned loose that as a matter of natural instinct and survival that they will turn feral again. SHOVELHEAD GCB SC

Thanks for your kind words. As of this date, I still have no updated news on my CAT situation. I can tell you that I am still finding dead birds and I have have a friend now with DNR and with his help, maybe we can get to the bottom of it all. Who ask for your opinion anyway. You are a mean person to even think of harming any animal no matter what they do. I bet you have not taken the time to think of the good a CAT can do...Keep rodents, snakes away. All I can say is you are so CRUEL. Scotch wrote: When dogs crap in my yard they will be killed. Cats are worse they better stay home!!!!

Yet another ignorant comment from yet another ignorant reader SCOTCH! What have you got against an innocent animal? Or are you making these comments to get attention? Just like Cat Lady states, cats do so much good. Anybody that kills ANY innocent animal needs to be in jail the rest of their lives. I feel sorry for you. You need God in your life.

Hey, these are the same people who now want Ben&Jerry ice cream to use mothers milk instead of cow milk to make their ice cream. What idiots!

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine so why are you snippy at me and telling me I need a brain? Was it because I said on the previous post that Scotch needed God in his life?
